Good Afternoon.
I thought that as Sir Paul plays the London Roundhouse tonight as part of the BBC Electric Proms that I would highlight the 3 amazing new releases heading for the shelves in the next few weeks :
PAUL MCCARTNEY Ever Present Past
'Ever Present Past' is the second single to be taken from Paul McCartney's new gold album 'Memory Almost Full'. "Sometimes I just sit down and try and write a pop song. I've done it throughout my life and it's an interesting thing to try and do, make something kind of catchy that might be attractive on the radio or whatever. So I was just going over personal feelings, it starts off "I've got too much on my plate" and then the way I write I just follow that thought and think, 'what did I mean by that? Explain yourself!' So then I think 'well what I meant was' and then it eventually just panned out that after I'd got the verse it just became this idea of my past, my 'Ever Present Past'. No deep meaning in it. I think what happens with me is, I just write a thing and people read more into it and I kind of like that because I think often you do things in a subliminal way, you don't actually realise what you are doing. So something that I might think is quite a simple statement, somebody might go, 'yeah but it means that!' So I like that, I like there to be multiple meanings to these things even though I often just started off as a phrase that's really just to help me write the song and get me onto the next bit. So really it's just basically a pop song and I recorded it with David (Kahne) and we just treated it that way, bit of guitar, bit of bass drum, bit of this, that and the other." - Sir Paul McCartney
Richard Austin - UK Office UNITED KINGDOM Created Thu 25th Oct '07 10:34 (GMT)Musings of a Blog type kind ... Hi all, As this is designed to let you see below the surface of the team here, rather than being merely another product page, I have decided to wax lyrical about a typical day at Esprit Towers.
The day begins with a flurry of rushing around (normally to get that first coffee!) then settles to deal with the treasures of the day.
The beauty of this is that every day is a surprise & the only thing that you can be certain of is that your day will be unlikely to remain as you planned it the night before. One phone call & one of our devoted buyer team could be suddenly sent out on the road to collect more rarities for you all, forcing a re-juggle of tasks. They could then come back with something amazing and change the priorities of everything that you are doing. You have to be very flexible, but you are seldom bored!
During the day you will see a plethora of items pass before your eyes, everything from ancient legendary vinyl such as the near mythical
Arnold Layne demo 7" to the cosmic grooviness of your very own
Iron Maiden incense sticks .
Occasionally you will pass some strange twilight creatures muttering about something called 'football' or the even stranger ones with permanent bags under their eyes keeping our IT systems going.
A brief interlude to harass the very busy packaging area to see if our next shipment of the amazing books by
Yuri Grishin have arrived then back to your desk to see what goodies you will be dealing with today.
It's frantic, it's busy, it's fun. We do it because we want to.
Hopefully in all of this, we manage to find that missing item for your collection.
Keep checking the
Latest Arrivals page as that's where the fruits of our labours will scroll before you.
Til next time ...

Laura Stoneman - UK and Import Releases UNITED KINGDOM Created Wed 24th Oct '07 17:40 (GMT)Good things come to those who wait....... Good Evening World!! Before I head off to yet another gig , I thought I'd better give you all a much over-due update. There's a lot to get through so I'll start by highlight the following bunch of fantastic new titles: SIGUR ROS Heima
In 2006, having toured the world over in support of their 'Takk' album, Sigur Ros returned home to play a series of free, unannounced concerts in Iceland. 'Heima' is a unique record of that tour filmed in over 13 different locations across the island, taking in the biggest and smallest shows of the band's career. Directed by the Oscar nominated Dean DeBlois, 'Heima' is premiered in London in October at the BBC Electric Proms alongside an exclusive live acoustic performance from the band. The special edition version of 'Heima' includes a beautifully presented 116 page [approx] photo book documenting the tour, encased in a special top-opening slipcase. The standard edition features the same audio-visual content as the special edition, but in a 4 panel digi-pack with an eight page booklet, in a side-opening slipcase. Aside from the 97 minute feature film, both DVDs have a bonus disc featuring over two hours of full length performances including music from all four of the band's albums, featuring alternate edits to those that appear in the film, plus a brand new song ('Heima') recorded live in the band's own studio and several 'featurettes'.
SPICE GIRLS Greatest HitsAfter much speculation and rumour the Spice Girls announced their reunion tour and Greatest Hits album to the world's media this summer. Fifty five million records sold, an astonishing 9 UK no. 1 singles, three back-to-back Christmas no. 1 singles and with 'Wannabe' the biggest selling single ever by an all female group, the Spice Girls have very little to prove. This lo...

Julian Thomas - UK Office UNITED KINGDOM Created Tue 23rd Oct '07 18:30 (GMT) Edited Tue 23rd Oct '07 18:31 (GMT)Unintended new mistake leads to absolution In the course of clearing up a rather large number of stray boxes I have this week re-discovered a number of items I thought we'd long since sold out of. It always surprises me how easily things get forgotten once they become hidden inside their cardboard prisons. Much to the amusement of some of my colleagues my natural hoarding instinct has proved to be of great benefit more often than not (just don't mention those 2000 Jellyfish singles, eh!). To illustrate my point here are two great examples - Muse's Absolution double vinyl LP, factory sealed from new & hence unplayed, mint condition, and a box of Unintended clear vinyl 7"s - my fellow buyers say that to have forgotten such rarities is disorganised neglect, but I say it's astute foresight to bury your nuts for winter! Stephen Borkowski - UK Buyer UNITED KINGDOM Created Tue 23rd Oct '07 17:01 (GMT)Still Got The Blues... Last night I had the privilege of seeing two fantastic blues guitarists. The headliner was someone I've seen on many occasions, Walter Trout . Walter who? Yes that's the reaction I'm used to. Well if you like searing guitar solos in the vein of Stevie Ray Vaughan check his albums out. I can personally recommend Tellin Stories, Relentless and Go The Distance as my personal favourites, though his most current album, Hardcore, is just that! The big surprise of the night though was an up and coming youngster by the name of Oli Brown , a 17 or 18 year old who's sound is very similar to the first Jonny Lang album Lie To Me. This was a treat for me as the Lie To Me CD is in my top ten blues albums of all time. I think this kid has a big career ahead of him and I shall be buying his first album as soon as he's finished recording it.

moptop UNITED KINGDOM Created Tue 23rd Oct '07 00:56 (GMT)CP35-3016 Lovely you have a genuine Toshiba NOT Sony/CBS or FAKE pressing there. Is the import sticker you are referring to a round gold sticker with the catalogue number on it and have you retained the same? Or is/was it something else? I have noticed that there is much confusion over the variations. Which I suppose isn't surprising after all there are currently ten genuine alternate pressings identified and one factory pressed fake, which carries a CP35-3016 17A1 matrix., easily identifiable by it's unique font used for the mastering matrix. It is common for sellers to identify any version without an obi as a Sony/CBS pressing but this is in error, and would have you believe that this is a very rare release, there are considerably rarer Beatles CD's this is just very popular. How many people do you know that have the Canadian pressing of Help! and Rubber Soul with the genuine mixes rather than the 1987 remixes. I am currently creating a guide to ALL the variations and now have located ten , although an original would be nice. All The Best PS EIL I note that you haven’t identified which pressing you currently have for sale.[reply to this topic ]
