april34 Bridge City, Louisiana USA Created Sat 22nd Jul '06 12:36 (GMT)Dad just passed away...was a hugs elvis fan..need to meet so Hi everyone. Im in Louisiana. My dad passed away a few months ago, and he was a huge elvis collector. He has boxes and boxes of albums, 45's, trading cards, articles on Elvis, lots of books on elvis..anything you can think of. Lots of the albums are still sealed. Mom and I have kept many things to remind us of dad, but being that we are not big Elvis fans, we would like to find someone who is interested in buying this collection. Ive been researching the jerry osborne site, and it seems that this collection is worth quite a bit of money. Now that mom is on her own, she really needs money more than collections. Im really interested in selling this and need to find some real collectors who will really appreciate the years of collecting that dad has done. Id like to get 3000.00 for the collection, and I know that is more than fair, in fact quite a deal. If anyone can help me with this id be forever thankful. April[reply to this topic ]
elizabethsmart bristol, bristol UNITED KINGDOM Created Fri 21st Jul '06 17:40 (GMT)Laura Stoneman - UK and Import Releases UNITED KINGDOM Created Fri 21st Jul '06 16:52 (GMT)Forthcoming Releases Hello all. Just a few bits and pieces added today. Including 7" singles from new kids on the block Dirty Little Faces & Dead Kids plus the 40th Anniversary Edition of the Beach Boys classic album 'Pet Sounds' and Christina Aguilera returns with her 3rd album 'Back To Basics'!! To view all the forthcoming releases click here DIRTY LITTLE FACES 'Piccadilly / Lose Win Lose' Release Date 31/07/06 Dirty Little Faces consist of Liam Batkin [vocals], Tom Short [guitar / backing vocals], John Baglin [drums] and Chris Ebbs [bass]. They formed in Peterborough and 'Piccadilly' / 'Lose Win Lose' is their second ever release, following the 'Finding It Hard' / 'Never Enough' double header which leapt out of the Label Fandango lair in April of this year and sold out within 48 hours. DEAD KIDS 'The Dead Wife Pills' Release Date 31/07/06 Dead Kids consist of Mike Frankel [vocals], George McFall [guitars / vocals / keyboards], Sebastian Thomson [drums], Kieran Pepper [guitars / vocals / keyboards] and Adam No [bass]. They make their music in London City, Englandshire and 'The Dead Wife Pills' / 'Ex-Rays' is their first ever release. Late one night in 2005 Dead Kids met at the bar, on the dance floor and in the toilets of a party at Old Street's Fortress Studios. The night turned into two sleepless days, whereupon they hastily recorded eight tracks in a weekend before Sebastian had to return to the States. It was no sleep that led Dead Kids to be born. While the Dead Kids all play in their own bands, their collectively-created clutch of dark disco songs sounds nothing like what they have achieved individually: Dead Kids play post-punk pop party fight music like Ian Dury singing in Rick James' band or The Neptunes getting wasted with The Contortions. It's the sound of the party just before the drugs go wrong, just before all your friends have gone…And that's just on ... [reply to this topic ]

Mark Evetts - UK Buyer UNITED KINGDOM Created Thu 20th Jul '06 16:51 (GMT)Hot Babes One week after seeing the Damned in a hot and sweaty 100 Club, it was to the more scenic setting of Rochester Castle Gardens to see the wonderful Sugababes last week and the girls rocked like..., well like a 3-piece girl band with lots of catchy tunes actually and mighty enjoyable it was too. Anyway, on to product matters and there's been some great vinyl items arriving recently. First is a superb set of 10 (yes,10!) Roxy Music/Brian Ferry white label test pressing LP's, along with 12" acetate items from George Michael and Julian Lennon . There's also some of the much sought after BBC Transcription Service LP's including title from The Alarm , Big Country and the original prog rocker Rick Wakeman . Get in quick...Finally, with the imminent return of the lovely Kylie, there's sure to be interest in the exclusive and recently reduced Feel The Fever interview CD. Keep cool. Dancer the unknown, kent UNITED KINGDOM Created Thu 20th Jul '06 13:43 (GMT)'cry to me' a dirty song for dirty dancing. Dirty dancing is one of my fav films of all time, some fantastic songs featured. Cry To Me has to be the best. i don't really know Solomon Burkes material. but with a good song like that i am willing to listen to some of his stuff.[reply to this topic ]
Re: SOLOMON BURKE Cry To Me (1984 UK 16-track LP compilation,
issued as part of the Charly R&B series - much underrated,
the voice of Burke should be talked about with the likes of
Otis Redding or Wilson Pickett. Although never achieving
much commercial success, his songs have stood the test of
time & the title track of this album was featured in the movie
'Dirty Dancing'. The picture sleeve is still in the open
shrinkwrap with the price sticker attached underneath & the
vinyl still looks barely played CRB1075) View this product

Jubilee is the first single to be taken from it...eithne_mooney@ie.sonymusic.com / jenny_headen@ie. sonymusic.com " ? And how do you know if you've got a CD-R ACETATE ? Is it stated on the disc somewhere or can you tell by looking if you know what you're looking for? That's a new one for me. Although I do have a 1968 metal acetate DECCA test pressing 45 (check my messages under MARIANNE FAITHFULL) I've never seen a promo CD that says it's a CD-R. Thanks! Richard/USA[reply to this topic ]

Richard Austin - UK Office UNITED KINGDOM Created Wed 19th Jul '06 16:47 (GMT)Competition Time Hi All, History is made this week as we have our FIRST repeat winner! Congratulations go to: Helen Stockwell Who is now £10 the richer in her Esprit account for correctly identifying Tina Turner as having been 20 (or 21) when she had her first hit with Ike. We were accepting both answers as Tina Turner's birth year seems to vary...OK. This weeks question:- The Dave Brubeck Quartet had a famous hit with 'Take Five' way back when (Recorded July 1, 1959), which became the first Jazz instrumental million seller. Why was it called 'Take Five'? Answers on the usual postcarte electronique to competition@eil.com & the winner will be announced next week. [reply to this topic ]
