LarryH Clear Spring, MD USA Created Sun 27th May '12 05:40 (GMT)Review: I remember hearing my first Slade song on one of those late night American shows. Let's call it quits. Bought a couple Albums that required several listenings. Now on this disc I get to hear 2 Steppenwolf songs and can actually understand the lyrics clearly. Other great covers include The Amboy Dukes "Journey to the center of your mind." Great playing guys. They ruled. The opening track is a neat insrumental called Genesis. Speaking of which on disc 2 "Know Who You Are" sounds like a finished version vocals included. The more I hear the Play It Loud the better I like it. Whereas most other Slade material immediately knocked me out. In addidtion to the 2 early LPs you get 2 more bonus tracks including a version of "Get Down And Get With It" later to appear on Slade Alive.[reply to this topic ]

LarryH Clear Spring, MD USA Created Sun 27th May '12 04:52 (GMT)Review: Good songs for a good cause-A cure for children's ca On disc 1 the real gems are the unreleased Witness to your love by Garbage and Rilo Kileys Draggin' Around.Radioheads House of cards and another unreleased song Paper Cities by Other Lives are worth a listen. As is the catchy Jimmy(M.I.A cover) by Of Montreal. This whole disc doesn't have a bad track on it . Good mix of Pop,Rock and Electronica. Onto disc 2.Listening to the opening track Table Scraps by Silversun Pickups I couldn't help thinking it soundes a bit like Liz Phair. The songs that rocked -Darker my love by BLue Day, The Promise by Sea Wolf, Eric Ivory's All Remote and No Control. The others are great for playing all night as you sleep. Not a bad track on either discl[reply to this topic ]

Nico4 Faxe DENMARK Created Mon 14th May '12 13:32 (GMT)I hear that the first edition of this double set was recorde The copy you have, is in mono then. There is only one way to differentiate between the mono and (very rare) stereo re-release. For the mono version, the matrix on the discs says: CD1: 82406 DVNT 12CD1 // IFPI L 852 CD2: 82407 DVNT 12CD2 // IFPI L 852 For the stereo version, the matrix says: CD1: DVNT 12 CD 1 MPO 01 @@ 6 01 // IFPI 120E CD2: DVNT 12 CD 2 MPO 01 @@ 6 01 // IFPI 121E That version is really hard to find, and there's a good chance it might even be miss-labelled under the mono release. If anyone knows where I could find this version, let me know.[reply to this topic ]

procyon AUCKLAND NEW ZEALAND Created Fri 11th May '12 03:13 (GMT)Review: agreed. mutebank was great when it was in the hands of mute itself. They always popped in a few promos, cards, dance remixes. badges, posters whatever. This new outfit that sells mute's stuff is a sham and a scam. They charge people like me whom live outside the EU for VAT "in the interests of fairness", ship the orders from Switzerland of all places, then have the gall TO REMOVE THE VAT AND KEEP IT FOR THEMSELVES! Thieves The invoice mutebank sent me clearly stated the VAT was removed...and subsequently kept by them. They will never have my business again. Postage to NZ is always a deciding factor for me(hence I buy all my books from the net from the Bookdepository.com whom do free worldwide shipping AND are VAT free as well!), so a company that has VAT free product and free shipping will get my business(I do my shops with EIL when they have postage free specials. EIL are great. I have no beef with them). So I do not use mutebank anymore. It's a rip off. In an age of mp3s and pirating, companies like that should be doing what they can to keep their custom base, not alienating them by blatantly ripping them off, then taking an imaginary moral highground to try to justify their own nefarious and rapacious behaviours. Thank the gods we have EIL to fall back on. THEY do right by me...)))[reply to this topic ]

harold Standish, Lancs UNITED KINGDOM Created Mon 30th Apr '12 08:58 (GMT)Harpo's Ghost by Thea Gilmore Never heard of Thea until I came accross her recording of Sandy Dennt songs and immediately became a fan because of her beautiful voice and musicianship. Harpo's Ghost is a record of live music split into acoustic and electrical. The songs aren't new but the music quality doesn't suffer due to the lack of studio gizmos, it demonstrates how good she and the band are. I recommend this album to all TG's fans and to those who don't know her I suggest they give it a try Really looking forward to seeing her live next month the The Lady concerts[reply to this topic ]
