PAUL HEATON Jenius (Indie Exclusive 2026 UK/EU limited edition 15-track double album 2-LP pressed on 180-gram White Vinyl. Written in the months following 2024's The Mighty Several and, as with much of Paul Heaton's recentwork, largely finished during cycling breaks in a village north of Amsterdam, Jenius was recorded at Manchester's Blueprint Studios in early 2026, right as his ten-year marriage was ending. None of that turmoil surfaces directly in thesongs themselves, which Heaton had alreadybegun before the split, but he's said the sessions became a genuine refuge, a chance to be around friends and bandmates rather than dwell on what was happening at home. Longtime guitarist Jonny Lexus, who's worked with Heaton since 2010's Acid Country, earned eight co-writing credits here and helped arrange further tracks, while producer Ian Broudie, returning from The Mighty Several, continues a working relationship Heaton describes as instinctive: Broudie "understands where I want to get to" without either of them needing to over-explain it. Guest vocalists Rianne Downey and Declan O'Rourke both feature across the record, Downey picking up where she left off on The Mighty Several, O'Rourke bringing a country turn to "The Whisky Did." The album's cover marks the first time Heaton's own photograph has appeared on one of his records since The Housemartins' 1986 debut, London 0 Hull 4, released 40 years ago this year.
