Laura Stoneman - UK and Import Releases UNITED KINGDOM Created Mon 24th Dec '07 13:06 (GMT)A letter of Forthcoming Goodwill from the Man himself......
Hello Santa here...Laura has given me a list and kindly asked me to tell you about all the wonderful new releases that you can expect to see in the New Year; including: MICHAEL JACKSON featuring WILL.I.AM The Girl Is Mine
'Thriller' is the biggest selling studio album of time, and with this lead single from the new 'Thriller 25' album it has been given a fresh new sound. 'The Girl Is Mine 2008' is the lead single and the first new music from Michael Jackson in 7 years. Michael has chosen to work with will.i.am, the driving force behind the Black Eyed Peas, who takes over the duetting duties, instead of Paul McCartney! This is a chance to introduce and update the track for a new audience, and it will serve to remind those who are familiar with it of the song's timeless qualities.
CAT POWER JukeboxCat Power returns with 'Jukebox', her second album of cover songs and a tribute to the great vocalists who have influenced her over the years. Recorded in Dallas, Memphis and Miami with Stu Sikes [who also worked on Loretta Lynn's Grammy-winning 'Van Lear Rose'], 'Jukebox' contains twelve tracks, eleven of which are covers and one, 'Song To Bobby', is brand new and a suitable inclusion as she wrote it about meeting Bob Dylan for the first time (it also precedes her version of 'I Believe In You' on this record). This is the first record she has made with her band Dirty Delta Blues – the quartet of Dirty Three's Jim White, Delta 72's Gregg Foreman, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion's Judah Bauer and Lizard Music's Erik Paparozzi – and they make up a big part of this album. Also making guest appearances on the record are Spooner Oldham ...

Happy Holidays, Everyone. I'm working as hard as Santa this week, trying to get everything caught up and squared away in order to present you with the best possible items from which to choose. But unlike Santa, it's not important whether you are naughty or nice, just so long as you know what you want, and you jump on that desire! This week, I'd like to spotlight an item we are offering for the first time ever. In 1964, Charlie Watts wrote a tribute to the inimitable Charlie Parker entitled ODE TO A HIGH FLYING BIRD , which we are proud to offer for sale today -- ONLY ONE COPY AVAILABLE! Twenty-Seven years later, the book was reprinted for Charlie's reissue box set, FROM ONE CHARLIE TO ANOTHER . I'd like to be able to offer out dozens of both editions, but there's always a little Scrooge mixed in with Santa, it seems. It's no coincidence that along with these loving tributes to Charlie "Yardbird" Parker, I shall now point you toward this original 1965 stereo pressing of ... [reply to this topic ]

Richard Austin - UK Office UNITED KINGDOM Created Thu 20th Dec '07 14:43 (GMT) Edited Thu 20th Dec '07 14:48 (GMT) Edited 2 times Elvis Drafted !!
Not even tear stained letters from thousands of fans could stop it, although he did get a sixty day deferment until March 1958 to enable him to film King Creole. Everybody, including Elvis & Colonel Tom, thought that the two years out of the public eye would finish his career. A massive promotional campaign followed along with the phased release of recordings 'in the can' to keep Elvis in the public eye while he wasn't, so to speak.
They obviously didn't do too badly, did they?
Elvis was widely praised for not seeking to avoid the draft or serve domestically, therefore after being a 'Threat To The Nation's Youth' just a year before, he now came to be seen as a role model for all young Americans! Sgt. Elvis was discharged on March 2, 1960 & continues to have hits, even from beyond the grave, right up to the present day.

Stephen Borkowski - UK Buyer UNITED KINGDOM Created Wed 19th Dec '07 10:44 (GMT)I'm Back! Rumours of my death have been greatly exaggerated, despite my lack of entries here over the last week! Let me give you a rundown as to why there has been little input from me on this forum recently…
Monday
Traditionally one of the busiest days of the week – lots of emails to attend to from over the weekend plus regular meeting with the Sales Team in the morning. Lunchtime a regular supplier arrived at the office with a few more of the Beatles ‘Stop Worrying Help Is On The Way’ press kits. If you want one I suggest grabbing them quick as there are just a couple left now!
The afternoon passed in a blur – I was off to see the mighty Zeppelin at O2 that night and couldn’t wait. I’m not going to bore you with how magnificent the concert was because either you’re not interested in the reunion at all or if you are interested then you’ve no doubt read countless reviews for yourself by now. Needless to say I agree with the reviews I read. For a concert that supposedly couldn’t possibly live up to all the hype, it did just that – I will remember it forever!
Tuesday
A day of rest. Not in the office at all and enjoyed some R&R at home (wat...

Richard Austin - UK Office UNITED KINGDOM Created Wed 19th Dec '07 08:48 (GMT) Edited Wed 19th Dec '07 08:52 (GMT)Yo Ho Ho ! Well, Saturday was fun. With Julian sporting the latest in designer Pith helmets, the intrepid explorer cut & hacked his way through the dense undergrowth (sounds like my garden!) & discovered a lost city of long forgotten CD gems. You can check just out what he found
HERE .
The voyage of discovery continues ....
Hope that you've all sorted out your Christmas purchases. If not there's still time, if you're quick.
Having avoided the dreaded lurgy so far, it's a little un-nerving to be sat so close to
Typhoid Mary , who is taking the Christmas idea of giving a bit too far. Honestly, we'd have preferred choccys !
Be safe & be good, one and all. If you've been bad this year, you may get a surprise from Santa that you weren't expecting ...

Michael Cambridge - UK Northern Office UNITED KINGDOM Created Wed 19th Dec '07 00:11 (GMT) Edited Thu 20th Dec '07 00:36 (GMT)Fuming!!! I see from the news that those bloody EU cronies are now trying to infringe our freedom to drive whatever vehicle we want on the grounds of carbon emmisions. So now if you dare drive a guzzler you are viewed as some kind of polution terrorist. We just have to ignore that 2 of the largest countries in the world destroy the environment at a rate that is frankly shocking, and as the powers that be won't tackle that, they hit the motorist. It's not anything to do with moves to increase tax of course!!
Question is what's worse Global warming or driving a piece of crap Focus - Hey grab the sunscreen!!
A more musical entry tommorow....

Hi Everyone. This is officially the busiest week of the entire year for me in terms of buying amazing collectables, and getting them sorted in enough time to buy MORE collectables. The amount of cool stuff, much of which we've not seen in YEARS, will be hitting our site between now and the end of 2007, provided I don't collapse first from excessive caffeine consumption. I broke my own personal record for hours and days without any sleep while working around-the-clock, and now I'm crazed and unstable -- OK, some would say that's business as usual, and to those people I would say: BACK OFF! Julian Thomas - UK Office UNITED KINGDOM Created Fri 14th Dec '07 16:43 (GMT)Cold storage indeed Never has a phrase been more appropriate. Tomorrow, Richard and I will be donning fingerless gloves, woolly hats, scarves & coats to delve into the wondrous depths of just some of the numerous boxes of stock we squirreled away years ago. A quick, mental count-up suggests about 12,000 CDs to begin with, then once they're sorted we'll be able to access the additional 18,000 CDs piled up behind them. Who knows what we'll find amongst the albums, singles, promos & CD-Rs? The last trawl unearthed some interesting titles including; ex-Blow Monkey, Dr. Robert singles & albums, a stack of Katie Melua's timeless Crazy CD singles, plus an album & single by a little known band called Adom , produced by & featuring Richard Barbieri . The thrill of discovery remains undiluted, and if all else fails we'll have lots of spare cases to use! PS - Mark, you forgot to mention Coldplay , and the disco classic A.E.I.O.U. by Freez! I've already got my copy & had to have it shipped half way across the world at great expense. In fact, it ended up costing me about a tenner more than you will have to pay if you get it HERE . I bought it because it really IS as good as you hope it will be. I think anyone who has listened to Tal's playing will realise that you are hearing something very special indeed. This young lady has a very great future ahead of her & she's already frightened some of the existing 'greats'. Comparisons to a young Jaco are easy to make - she manages to play with so much empathy to what's going on around her that it's quite something to see & hear. If you were lucky enough to see her & Vinnie Colaiuta playing with Jeff Beck, it was a revelation to watch them trading off complex accents & grinning at each other as they did it. It was one of the best & most together rhythm sections I have ever seen and they were having FUN !!! I thought this CD was good enough to hunt down a copy immediately, Australian only or not, but now you can get one from us for considerably cheaper - how good is that ?
I'd like to especially thank the long suffering Mr Simon Wright for not only arranging for us to list this amazing debut CD, but also for resisting the temptation to deliver extreme whacks as I badgered him about it non-stop for the last fortnight :-) [reply to this topic ]
