Laura Stoneman - UK and Import Releases UNITED KINGDOM Created Wed 16th Jan '08 17:27 (GMT)Another Late Delivery. I always seem to be apologising for a late deliveries recently, for that I am sorry. We are still waiting for this CD format of the new Dave Gahan single 'Saw Something / Deeper + Deeper' to arrive as somehow the delivery bloke who delivered the 7" picture disc & 12" vinyl managed to not give us the box containing the CDs and delivered it to another company - very helpful as I am sure you can imagine!! I spoke to EMI yesterday who explained that they would be sending out a courier to pick the CD's up today so all fingers & toes crossed, they should arrive here tomorrow!! Watch this space..... Richard Austin - UK Office UNITED KINGDOM Created Wed 16th Jan '08 15:11 (GMT)2B or not 2B ? Well, here we are again and todays letter (after the let off we had yesterday with the much feared "Q") was "B". Easy peasy.
Apart from the obvious
Beatles (too easy), we have so far sampled the delights of the sadly missed & much under rated
Adrian Borland , the equally missed
Jeff Buckley ,
The Beach Boys &
Brand X . Still to come we have the delights of the
Bonzos ,
The Barracudas ,
The Buzzcocks , the magnificent
Arthur Brown , the equally magnificent
Jeff Beck & even
Pat Benatar . This is a good game, even for the semi concussed like myself, who somehow managed to head butt a door frame this morning while trying to avoid unnecessarily damaging a colleague. Given the mountainous bump that has since flowered on my head, in hindsight perhaps I should have just sent Laura flying into the mailbags instead.
OK, I shall forgive Laura this time - B is also for Bump.

There are still a few tickets left at £8.50 (or £6 for members) that can be booked
HERE .

Julian Thomas - UK Office UNITED KINGDOM Created Tue 15th Jan '08 12:12 (GMT)Cue the letter Q Honest, Steve, it was totally legit! Yes, today's letter is Q, and our friendly Queen fanatic just happens to be on holiday so the rest of us have been spared the warbling and twanging of Mercury & May. I have to say the 'Q' section of my collection is somewhat sparse, so I had a lateral thinking moment and have decided that the following all qualify for inclusion in today's playlist. First up, a jazz classic from the Dave Brubeck Quartet, followed by a Late Spot At Scott's masterclass from the wonderfully talented Tubby Hayes Quintet. And, if there's time, perhaps a little offering from the Horace Silver Quintet and a superb recording live at the Ealing Jazz Festival from the Tony Kinsey Quartet. All's fair in love & war, eh! Britton Cardiff, Cardiff UNITED KINGDOM Created Tue 15th Jan '08 00:35 (GMT)Question to EIL: I would just like to know how many were produced (how rare really) I bought a programme back in '76 at the Cardiff Capitol Theatre and the flexi was inside it and i'ts been there ever since. I do remember that not all of my mates had one with their progs. It still plays alright a bit crackley but that's to be expected of a 32 year old flexi-disc i suppose. Is it worth anything do you think? Any further info would be welcomed. Cheers Les[reply to this topic ]

Mark Evetts - UK Buyer UNITED KINGDOM Created Mon 14th Jan '08 17:15 (GMT)180!!! As my darts blog idea has been usurped by our northern correspondent, i was going to continue the sporting theme with anyone for tennis as the Australian open started today.Unfortunately, the British presence in the shape of Andy Murray has already gone out in the first round. Very Tim Henman...
Oh well, todays playlist letter was 'w' and has included back catalogue from
The Wonder Stuff ,
Wildhearts and the surprisingly good
Wallflowers featuring Jakob Dylan, son of Bob. Nowhere near as irritiating as his ol' man.

In the spirit of the current Kent fascination with playing music with artists all starting with the same letter, the Northern Office offers a suggestion. Hi Everyone! I'm pleased to be away from my home state of Nevada today. You may have heard that America has a "little" election later this year for a President to replace your pal George W. Bush. I live in a state that is third in the nation to help determine the final candidates who will compete for President in November. Although that sounds exciting, what it REALLY means is that the entire pool of candidates is SO desperate for EVERY last vote, registered voters such as myself are getting bombarded with phone calls day and night from campaigns, polling surveys and political organizations. If I get one more call from either Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama's people, I'm just going to vote for Madonna or Kylie on Thursday, instead! For those of you into The 4AD Scene , check out this really cool 4AD COLLECTORS SET , which was limited to only 300 copies distributed worldwide, and features an exclusive PIXIES live album, as well as best-selling 4AD albums from Cocteau Twins [reply to this topic ]

Michael Cambridge - UK Northern Office UNITED KINGDOM Created Fri 11th Jan '08 23:53 (GMT) Edited Mon 14th Jan '08 09:15 (GMT) Edited 4 times Let's Play Darts!! Apologies for the lack of blog entries this week, as I have been out travelling in search of rarities [Of which I have many]. In between I have been avidly watching the Darts championship on TV.
I was intending to highlight several items today, however our 'sickness' depleted sales team beat me to it, finding homes with our customers for several immense pieces. While the new stock is being sorted check out my latest arrivals page.
Instead I will take the opportunity to rant at the intensely annoying and unsightly looking 'bus shelters' cropping up outside buildings around the country. These are intended to house nicotine obsessed bods who can't go an hour without a fix. Bugger the architecture lets pander to addicts, what next 'smack shelters'!!
Back to Darts if you fancy joining the likes of 'Wibly' Webster, Ted 'The Count' Hankey or Martyn 'The Wolf' Adams but wanted to look cool check out this amazing promotional set including OASIS Dartboard with darts.

Julian Thomas - UK Office UNITED KINGDOM Created Fri 11th Jan '08 17:08 (GMT) Edited Fri 11th Jan '08 17:11 (GMT)Get 'em while they're hot, they're luvverly Whilst those around me have been squabbling over deck time and arguing about whose turn it is to put the needle on the record, or more accurately, the laser on the aluminium, I have been methodically sorting through a huge batch of thousands of CDs I picked up last December. There's many a bargain to be had, if I do say so myself, and quite an eclectic mix of the old, the new and the 'yet to make an impression outside of the PR spin quoted by their own labels or agents!' My latest arrivals page will show you the way, so have a browse and enjoy the offer of free postage on anything that tickles your fancy. Happy hunting. [reply to this topic ]
Mark Evetts - UK Buyer UNITED KINGDOM Created Fri 11th Jan '08 16:36 (GMT) Edited Fri 11th Jan '08 16:41 (GMT)Why, why, why Delilah... Well not exactly, but today's playlist letter was 'Y', so it's been mainly Neil Young (as opposed to Will or Paul ...) day and pretty damn good it's been too. We all know the old classics but it seems his rather prolific back catalogue warrants further in-depth investigation.
And with the release on Monday of the first single 'Jigsaw Falling Into Place' from
Radiohead's latest opus 'In Rainbows', it's reminded me that i really must get round to playing the album after purchasing the £40.00 box set before Christmas...
Have a good weekend.

Laura Stoneman - UK and Import Releases UNITED KINGDOM Created Fri 11th Jan '08 12:26 (GMT)Goldfrapp return..... O n Monday 25th February 2008, Genre-busting pop pioneers
Goldfrapp return with their eagerly awaited fourth album.
'S eventh Tree' follows up the platinum-selling and critically acclaimed 'Supernature' album which came out in summer 2005 and went on to sell over a million copies worldwide. From the captivating electronic balladry of Mercury nominated debut 'Felt Mountain' and its dancefloor-burlesque follow-up, 'Black Cherry', Goldfrapp have consistently surprised and delighted with each new album, adeptly body swerving both stereotypes and imitators alike.
I f 'Supernature' was airbrushed in bold strokes of glitterball glamour, 'Seventh Tree' is its sensual counterpoint. Where its predecessor came cocooned in style and sex, 'Seventh Tree' emerges gilded in the butterfly colours of an English surrealism shared from Lear to Lennon. It shimmers and shines with the warmth of a hazy summer, an electric whirlpool of sound over which Alison's glistening voice soars. Alison Goldfrapp says "Seventh Tree is English romanticism with a hint of California sunshine." while Will Gregory describes the album as "Heartache dressed in ten louche outfits".
G oldfrapp are widely acknowledged as modern musical treasures - amongst their most creative and imaginative contemporaries they present albums, live shows and imagery in a self-created, ambitious and consistently uncompromising way. Alison Goldfrapp has become a modern-day British icon, providing musical and visual inspiration for countless other artists.
G oldfrapp also have a very real beating heart - and it is this rhythm that reverberates throughout the new set of powerful songs on 'Seventh Tree'.
Y ou can order your copy of 'Seventh Tree' on the following 3 formats:
CD ,
CD/DVD and
LP .
