youngy105 Stockport, Cheshire UNITED KINGDOM Created Thu 17th May '07 20:11 (GMT)Oasis Knebworth Denim Jacket I have one of these and was wondering how much they are worth. I've had since around 1998, it has been worn a few times but it's in perfect condition and currently gathering dust in the wardrobe. It states on here, eil, that only 40 were made. If that is the case then boy do I feel priviliged to own one. Any ideas of worth would be a great help.[reply to this topic ]

Michael Cambridge - UK Northern Office UNITED KINGDOM Created Thu 17th May '07 15:58 (GMT) Edited Fri 18th May '07 22:33 (GMT) Edited 2 times ARTWORK ANYONE??
If you have a spare wall that looks naked - read on!! as we contunue our trip down format lane with a little more info on the mystery that is Artwork
If ever there was a format that defied description then this surely is it, but we're big boys and girls so we'll try and explain it. Traditionally when we think of artwork we think of those lovely designed sleeves that package the all important music, be it LP, CD or DVD, but in collectable terms [which is where we know our beans] the format has various guises. We have proof Artwork which is usually the uncut, unfolded sleeve made by the designer or printer to check quality and clarity. These are recognisable by proofing & trim bars with colour reference charts and some even have overlaid tracing with hand written annotations held in mount boards.
The next variation to cast our beady eyes over is original pieces of Art ranging from drawings and sketches [usually the result of absent minded doodles sat on a tour bus] right through to original paintings and limited edition prints. Other formats of note include lithographs, serigraphs and gelatin prints, all ranging from small designs right through to gallery size pieces. We have been fortunate enough [or clever enough] to have stocked some of the most amazing pieces imaginable, from hand done Lennon and Warhol drawings to Jerry Garcia original watercolours. When we say prepare to be amazed we really do mean it!!

odinswolf Bangor, Down UNITED KINGDOM Created Thu 17th May '07 13:37 (GMT)Review: Anyone who likes Echo and the Bunnymen should love this since it IS E&tB! A bit more of a rock theme running in it than the more jangly style of many bunnyman albums but Mac's vocals mark it out and it fits in well with a collection[reply to this topic ]

Cathryn Draper - UK Office UNITED KINGDOM Created Wed 16th May '07 17:21 (GMT) Edited Wed 16th May '07 17:22 (GMT)Can You Live Without A Snap Pack?? Ever wondered what those funny little Japanese 3" singles are, well if you are sitting comfortably we'll tell you a little story--
[check out our catalogues - you could own one as well]
Snap-pack CD
The tanzaku is a long strip of paper. The compact disc is 3 inches, or 8 centimetres in certain areas, mostly in diameter, and mostly in Japan. We don't know precisely when the first one arrived. It could have been around 1984 [when big brother wasn't watching]. The last one made its royal appearance in 2004 as Queen's I Was Born To Love You . Twenty years is very young indeed for a mountain but quite old for a compact disc. That's why you don't see many of them around anymore. We call them 'snap-packs' [who knows what they call us] but in their native Japan they're called tanzaku. They are rather special and rather hard to find. Their unique design means you can choose to keep them intact, or 'snap' the pack and display one like a picture, if you get the picture. You can even play the CD when your downloads have crashed. Collecting has never been such fun...

Manuel Barcelona SPAIN Created Wed 16th May '07 13:20 (GMT)Review: It's a great country pop album, Shania Twain sings amazingly and the production is incredible. I love Shania's music because it has an accessible positive message which is given in a wonderful way. I bought this version because it contains the Mach III remix of 'Love gets me everytime', honestly, it is one of my favourite Shania's remixes, although I would also recommend you the dance mix of this song (and the dance mix and Mutt Lange mix of 'If you're not in it for love...', amongst others). Finally, I'd say that 'Come on over' proves that 'commercial music' doesn't mean 'bad music'.[reply to this topic ]

madonna-forever Birmingham, West Mids UNITED KINGDOM Created Tue 15th May '07 16:11 (GMT)Question to EIL: Madonna - Confessions on a Dancefloor 24BIT its lovely on the inside too, both cds are picture cds on gold coloured discs.one disc has the album artwork, the other the hung up cover artwork. there are really nice pictures on the inside fold outs too.one is the picture where she is wearing a black off shouldered top with a pink background.the other is a picture of her wearing a turquoise sequinned top with blue and clear beads. the rest of the wraparound is all the lyrics to the songs i'm not as disciplined as you, if i cant see the inside before i buy it, it kills me, i have to take a peek! lol hope this helps :)[reply to this topic ]
Michael Cambridge - UK Northern Office UNITED KINGDOM Created Tue 15th May '07 15:24 (GMT) Edited Wed 16th May '07 10:09 (GMT) Edited 6 times TAPE ANYONE?? For a company obsessed with ones, there is one that may have slipped through your collecting net.
It's humble, it's unobtrusive and it won't take up much shelf space. We all used to play them till those shiny CD's came along, with days spent in your bedroom taping compilations of songs that meant something [and forcing them on everyone who knew you].
Most commonly available though the 1970's and 80's on cassette albums and never one to miss out on a new format, the cassette single was born, Malcom Mclarens Bow Wow started this particular ball rolling in 1980 and it ended it's run in 2003, with no one owning up to the accolade. Primarily a means of exploiting the all singing Sony Walkmen cassette player, it lost out in the format battle and has now been replaced by memory sticks and the like [a market leader when clicks were what your records did].
Notoriously hard to find, [though ignored at the time] many were more limited than we ever imagined, so if you really want to call yourself a serious collector then this has to be one of your ones. Pay homage to the humble cassingle and take a peek through our catalogues, we probably have the largest stock in the world [and we're proud]. Vote with your wallet - keep the cassette alive. paddobeatle57 Wetherill Park, NSW AUSTRALIA Created Tue 15th May '07 10:06 (GMT)The Boys Are Back In Town Whose hits are they performing? Not "theirs" surely as they really can't lay claim to any credit for the classic tracks mentioned despite Scott Gorham's involvement. I saw Thin Lizzy in their heyday in the late 1970's here in Sydney on the Opera House forecourt in front of 200, 000 fans and they were superb. However as the late Phil Lynott was the creative genius & voice of the group, any band now purpotedly bearing the Thin Lizzy name is just kidding itself and any "real fan" fool enough to part with their money to see "this group" shouldn't cry poor mouth if they come away disappointed. It would be like the Stones without Mick & Keith. It's also akin to Axl Rose and his "Guns 'N Roses ringins" currently touring even if he does have rights to the name. No thanks. I'll just drag out my "Live & Dangerous" LP if I want live Lizzy.[reply to this topic ]
