Howmuchhowmany Meopham, Kent UNITED KINGDOM Created Wed 9th Aug '06 13:36 (GMT)How do you get yours? Let's ignore the sound quality debate for a minute. My original point is that although there are now numerous new ways to deliver the music to your ears, I still enjoy buying, selling and playing vinyl the most. Even though I play CDs the most and own more CDs than records. By contrast I don't miss playing VHS videos because DVDs are infinitely better. So, why then, does vinyl remain so attractive? Has anyone here decided to go the whole way with new technology and transfer their entire collections to MP3 ? Is there anyone reading this post who has their music stored exclusively on an iPod or PC and has never even bought a CD or record? It would be interesting to hear some alternative experiences...[reply to this topic ]

Hmmm ....
Well, I'm back from holiday ....
Somehow while on this holiday I managed to miss TWO music festivals & two Charlatans gigs. Not a good showing really.
At least I had an excuse for one music festival - They moved the bl**dy week after fifty one years !!!
You can see all that I am currently missing here . Ho Hum. There will be a few people in the Badger beer tent that will be missing me and I will have to cope without my annual dose of 'ba-diddley-diddley' music, but such is life. I can survive on my Hawkwind collection for another year.
On the bright side, my fears that Catbeast was constipated proved unfounded & she's leaping about like a five year old on Tartrazine . In human years, she's apparently 78, so I hope I take after her in my twilight years.
Nothing else to report - I've b...

Mark Evetts - UK Buyer UNITED KINGDOM Created Mon 7th Aug '06 17:06 (GMT) Edited Mon 7th Aug '06 17:16 (GMT) Edited 6 times Charlatans in Chatham! The mighty Charlatans paid a rare visit to Kent on Saturday 5th August to play the tiny Tap 'n' Tin pub in Chatham as a warm-up for the following days Electric Gardens Festival.
Tickets were obviously like the proverbial rocking horse poo and the 3rd floor venue was packed to its 250-300 capacity by the time the band came on stage at 11pm-ish.
A set list mixing tracks from the latest 'Simpatico' album mixed with some classic back catalogue numbers meant for a superb evening of hot, sweaty, loud music where you can see the whites of the bands eyes, which is just how it should be. The word 'swagger' was invented for this band and the encore version of 'Sproston Green' sent people into orbit.
My ears are still ringing and my head's still spinning...

Laura Stoneman - UK and Import Releases UNITED KINGDOM Created Mon 7th Aug '06 16:38 (GMT) Edited Mon 7th Aug '06 16:38 (GMT)He's Back! Yes, that's right Folks SHAKY IS BACK! And this time, he's back with a new single and album. Following on from his victory on ITV's 'Hit Me Baby One More Time' which spawned his cover version of Pink's 'Trouble'; Mr Stevens has joined forces with Brian Rawlings' songwriting team and has produced a 12-track bumper-packed collection of new songs [some co written by Shaky] and cover versions including his versions of hits from George Harrison, The Shirelles and Elvis Costello.
So, should it be 'Now Listen' - a warm, and heartfelt pop song with a massively catchy melody; 'Fire Down Below' which "shakes" it up a bit with a classic rock-orientated feel, honky tonk piano and bluesy guitar solos or his covers of rock and pop songs that truly brings out his wealth of musical inspiration over the last twenty-five years in the business, Shaky fans old and new will most certainly not be disappointed with 'Now Listen'. Laura Stoneman - UK and Import Releases UNITED KINGDOM Created Mon 7th Aug '06 16:27 (GMT) Edited Mon 7th Aug '06 17:22 (GMT) Edited 7 times new releases COMING SOON... Good Afternoon Everyone. Just thought I'd send you all a small compilation of titles which I added over the last week or so and hadn't appeared on here yet. Including new albums from Audioslave, Beyonce, The Damned & Level 42!!
The genius new Audioslave album 'Revelations' is without question one of the most highly anticipated Rock records of 2006. Audioslave have delivered their best album yet, for it rocks as hard as anything they have done before but at the same time there's a whole new groove to it. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone.com, guitarist Tom Morello described the record as "Led Zeppelin meets Earth, Wind and Fire," adding that it's a "big hard rock record with a funky bottom." Among the album’s many highlights is the groove-driven lead single, 'Original Fire' and 'Wide Awake', about the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. "It's probably Audioslave's most political song to date," says Morello. The Grammy-nominated quartet [vocalist Chris Cornell, guitarist Tom Morello, bassist Tim Commerford and drummer Brad Wilk] recorded 'Revelations' at Henson Studios in Los Angeles with acclaimed producer Brendan O'Brien. O'Brien, whose myriad credits include Pearl Jam and Bruce Spingsteen, mixed Audioslave's 'Out of Exile' record and the 'Live in Cuba' CD and DVD. His history with the band goes back even farther, as he produced Rage Against The Machine albums 'Evil Empire' (1996), 'The Battle of Los Angeles' (1999) and 'Renegades' (2000) and mixed Soundgarden's 'Superunknown' (1994).
Beyoncé is one third creative force behind Pop icons, fa...

Julian Thomas - UK Office UNITED KINGDOM Created Fri 4th Aug '06 16:08 (GMT) Edited Fri 4th Aug '06 16:18 (GMT) Edited 3 times You can have it all...for Christmas Last week one of my local pubs placed a large sign in their car park which read, "Christmas bookings now being taken..." It was still July so I can only assume that the recent heatwave has taken its toll and turned all their brains to mush. However, if you're one of those people who does all their Christmas shopping in the January sales then it may seem perfectly reasonable to you, so you won't mind me highlighting this festive little number from Christmas 2005 ... The Kaiser Chiefs' You Can Have It All was originally issued as an extremely limited 7" single, exclusively available via their own web site, so it came as quite a surprise recently to find it on CD. I managed to secure a few of them so if you missed out on the vinyl (now fetching £40 or more) the CD may tempt you at a mere £9.99 - just like mince pies, get 'em while they're hot, they're lovely... Merry Christmas.[reply to this topic ]
Neal Handley-Sawer - Merchandise Buyer UNITED KINGDOM Created Fri 4th Aug '06 15:59 (GMT) Edited Fri 4th Aug '06 16:01 (GMT) Edited 2 times Latest Merchandise New Hello, I have been away for a few days and on returning to my desk I have been confronted by a bunch of new stuff for you to get your teeth into. I spent the weekend in Yorkshire at the Across The Tracks festival in Leeds on Saturday [where The Pigeon Detectives, The Research & British Sea Power were excellent, The Young Knives, Yes Boss & New Young Pony Club were not and The Bees & Paolo Nutini were just a bit dull - sorry lads], while on Sunday I had a look around York [very nice too - they seem to have one bakers or cafe for every 6 people who live there, every second shop sells pastry based products - delicious!!]. Back to work and I have had delivery of some very limited Elvis bone china figures from Royal Doulton which I have managed to get at a bargain price, but if you want one, be quick as I only have a few at the lower price, as soon as they have gone it'll be back to the normal retail price for these beauties. In addition I have had some great Beatles card tins plus a whole bunch of tour programmes from the great and the good.[reply to this topic ]
