Mark Evetts - UK Buyer UNITED KINGDOM Created Fri 16th May '08 17:12 (GMT) Edited Fri 16th May '08 17:14 (GMT)Bonnie Scotland... Everybodies favourites Scottish indie kings Belle & Sebastian released their debut album Tigermilk in 1996 and we have obtained a copy of the original Electric Honey label LP, of which only a 1000 copies were pressed!
Also in the news this week,
Rangers fans caused havoc in the host city where they were playing whilst bidding to win a european trophy (just as they did in Barcelona back in 1972) while my favourite managerial incompetent,
BA boss Willie Walsh at least had the grace to turn down his £700,000 bonus in the wake of the T5 fiasco, although he did come out with the following pearls of wisdom.
"I thought it would be inappropriate that I be paid a bonus". (Really?)
Mr Walsh said the upcoming period would be "very challenging".
Wow, that bullsh*t management manual he got for Christmas has been given a hammering...

The Smiths will always remain one of the most influential bands of the past 50 years, not only their musical blend of jangly upbeat guitars set against Morrissey's amusing and intelligent lyrics but also their impressive iconic visual imagery.
Just arrived in stock are a great selection of unissued, withdrawn and frankly [Mr Shankly] amazing pieces.

Saul Watson - Product Promotion UNITED KINGDOM Created Wed 14th May '08 12:14 (GMT) Edited Wed 14th May '08 14:34 (GMT) Edited 5 times The Planet Still Rocks Congratulations to our good friends over at Planet Rock for picking up Digital Station Of The Year award at this year's prestigious Sony Radio Awards.
Described by the judges as "A station with extraordinary passion, knowledge, surprise and depth", Planet Rock beat off competition to take home the prize.
And they had success in the other categories that they were nominated in, with a Bronze in the Multiplatform Award for their superb monthly artist minisites (for this months click here ) and a Silver heading to Fish for The Music Broadcaster of the Year.
It does beg the question of how a station which continues to trounce BBC 6 music, consistently increases its audience share, and has bee named station of the year again can be under the threat of closure!! Let's just hope that a certain curly haired guitar wizard manages to ride to the rescue.
Until then if you haven't already, check out planetrock.com and tell them we sent you. They go all the way to 11 you know.

Mark Evetts - UK Buyer UNITED KINGDOM Created Fri 9th May '08 10:48 (GMT)Art... I find, is usually a load of pretentious crap but the idea of the Ebbsfleet Landmark Project seems a good one to me and is not 10 minutes away from us here at EIL .
5 artists have been shortlisted to design a project to symbolise the new Ebbsfleet Valley development and the surrounding areas including the nearby Eurostar train station.
Obviously my idea of a scene showing a big fight between a load of illegal immigrants from Kosovo & some local chavs outside McDonalds in the pedestrianised Gravesend high street didn't get nominated, so i'm leaning towards Mark Wallinger's white horse (provided it is lit up at night) or the cubed tower from Daniel Buren, even if he is French (Europhobe, moi?).
Anyone else made their choice?
Not in the class of
Antony Gormley's (who really is a truly talented artist) Angel of the North but should certainly become a talking point when it's finished sometime in 2010.
No contest for sporting event of the weekend - Let's hope the mighty Eagles can crush the Wurzels...

Saul Watson - Product Promotion UNITED KINGDOM Created Wed 7th May '08 10:10 (GMT) Edited Wed 7th May '08 12:03 (GMT) Edited 5 times Exclusive Madonna Hard Candy Promo Gig. Robin, our man South of The Border (that’s Mexico and not south of Glasgow) was lucky enough to win a photo competition run by the Official Madonna fan club.
The competition was to take a photograph related to Hard Candy, her Madgenes would then pick her favourite 50 entrants and they would be invited to a special launch concert in New York City.
Below you will find Robin’s exclusive report of the show and a few pics he took along with of course the prize winning snap.
“We have just arrived from NY, Madonna concert was a very nice once in a lifetime experience!” After being officially notified on Sunday I was on the 'list' for Madonna tickets at Roseland Ballroom in NY (concert was on Wednesday), we got flights the very next day and arrived JFK late on Monday night.
Day 2- day of the concert - There were a hundred of fans that had been sleeping outside since Sunday night when Madonna announced she was going to give some extra tickets to the fans waiting in line.
The venue was a very small mini theatre near the corner of 52nd and Broadway. A number of passers-by were enquiring “Which Madonna was going to be playing at the small theatre?” I’m guessing they thought it was a tribute night. Anyway, we arrived at 6pm, got given our wristbands at 7pm, which allowed us to queue in a different line with another 50 or so people. By that time, that particular corner of Broadway was packed with a host of radio and TV stations transmitting live.
At 8pm the doors were swung open, some headed straight for the t-shirt stall, others stopped to get some beers in the bar, whilst my better half and I moved quickly and found ourselves right at front and centre.
The lights went out and the concert started at around 10pm. Madge only played 6 songs and it only lasted under an hour. We couldn't believe we were just few steps from Madonna.
We took LOTS of pictures and anyone interested can just drop me a line. At the very end of the concert they gave us a very nice individually numbered Roseland Ballroom promo tour poster as a memento.
Thanks Madonna, it truly w...

Mark Evetts - UK Buyer UNITED KINGDOM Created Fri 2nd May '08 10:46 (GMT)Sweet Madonna,,, Blimey, i've only gone and struck lucky in the draw for the Radio 1 Big Weekend shindig at nearby Maidstone when her Royal Madgeness is performing. Result.

On to sporting matters and apart from the obvious (come on Palace), this weekend will see the climax of the
World Snooker Championships and riveting stuff it's been as well, from the flawed genius that is Ronnie O'Sullivan to the spotty little herberts i've never heard of who barely look old enough to pick up a cue.

SAVOY SONGBOOK VOL.1 2008 UK edition 24-track 2-CD album set comprising a 14-track collection of their greatest hits [spanning 1994 - 2004] plus a 10-track CD BONUS CD featuring newly reworked versions plus 3 previously unreleased recordings such, presented in a UK exclusive digipack picture sleeve.
Norwegian band , Savoy are most likely to be relatively unknown to most people in the UK but one of their members is far from obscure: Paul Waaktaar-Savoy is the man responsible for young women fainting en masse in the late 80s and early 90s. He's a member of the global super-hit Scandinavian band A-ha and penned some of their biggest The Norwegian born songwriter's band are made up of his wife; American filmmaker Lauren Savoy [guitar and vocals], Frode Unneland [drums] and Paul himself who leads the band on vocals and guitar as well as composing the songs with his wife.
Savoy have always only been able to be a side project for Paul as the demands of recording and touring with a band like A-ha were always very restrictive. In fact Savoy have never actually been out on tour as they don't have the time. Despite this, the band enjoyed considerable success in their home country selling more than 300,000 records with a career that spans more than a decade. This new release is a collection of their best songs reworked, plus some new ones. Savoy will be playing the Royal Albert Hall on May 24th alongside a-ha band members Magne F and Morten Harket who will also play solo slots that night. ORDER your copy TODAY [reply to this topic ]
Michael Cambridge - UK Northern Office UNITED KINGDOM Created Mon 21st Apr '08 23:15 (GMT) Edited Tue 22nd Apr '08 17:05 (GMT) Edited 2 times Lunatics Are Taking Over The Asylum I have recently been catching up on the massive backlog of CD's to play, including gems from one of the most underated bands of the last 20 years Killing Joke with their 2008 remasters of classic albums. This along with constant favourites David Sylvian and trips down memory lane to my goth past with The Mission and Sisters Of Mercy keeps me from getting bored.
Todays rant is those Eco-Fascists in local councils who prosecute householders up to £300 for leaving their plastic bin lids 6 inches open. With fly-tipping fines at £80 what message does that send - More and more we are being Governed by Morons!!.
Keep checking the site this week for my latest arrivals with a great array of rarities hitting the pages with a massive collection of CD singles and classic 12" vinyl together with box sets and memorabillia. [reply to this topic ]

Mark Evetts - UK Buyer UNITED KINGDOM Created Fri 18th Apr '08 11:52 (GMT) Edited Fri 18th Apr '08 14:22 (GMT)'I've got a feeling inside of me...' and it's the taste of a beer called 'New Rose', named after the debut single (and the FIRST UK punk single release, rock historians) of everybody's favourite punksters The Damned . Brewed by the
Hart Brewery up near Preston it's one of 3 special edition ales due in honour of the band, which sounds pretty cool to me. Burp!
This weekends sporting highlight is the under-rated Joe Calzaghe's attempt to maintain his unbeaten record over in Las Vegas against Bernard Hopkins.
Obviously it's ok to make racist comments if you're black. Imagine the furore if Calzaghe or anyone else used such language about Hopkins. Certain people wouldn't be able to contain their political correctness...
Lets hope Welsh 'white boy' Calzaghe beats the hell out of the former middleweight world champion/armed robber.
It's on Setanta at some ungodly hour on Sunday morning if you can stay up...
