Coming Soon Sensations......
Hello!!  Firstly, I would just like to make a small apology to you all as I have been neglecting you all and your new release title needs. If this was because I had been on holiday then I'm sure I could probably forgive myself. But I haven't (all together now - aahhhhh Cry), I've just sitting here at my desk getting square eyes Geek whilst adding hundreds of titles a week for you.

Now it would be silly for me to sit here and list each and every title added since I last spoke to you so instead I'm gonna to give you a little compilation of nice BIG juicy releases which I hope will see you through until next time!

I am pleased to announce that you can all now order the following:

· THE KILLERS Sam's Town [released: 02/10/06]

· U2 Zoo TV Live From Sydney [released: 18/9/06]

· STING Songs From The Labyrinth [released: 09/10/06]

new merchandise coming soon...
Wink Just to let you know I spent the day walking around a trade fair at the NEC in Birmingham on Tuesday [up at 3.30 in the morning to get there in plenty of time] but have got mountains of new items coming in - Zippo lighters, jigsaws, t-shirts, bags, wallets, canvas prints and a whole bunch more. The majority of the stock will be in during October, so keep your eyes out for some great Christmas pressies.

Posters.....
Every time I get a list of posters sent to me I pour over it enthusiastically, get my order in and sit in anticipation until it arrives at my desk. At that point I realise how much work I've let myself in for, and for the next 2 working days I am consumed by posters. This week has been one of those weeks. The saving grace on all this is that the posters and prints I've been buying this week are not your common-or-garden pop into your high street and pick them up style posters, but limited prints, lithographs and silkscreen images that would brighten any home. Some of the highlights added today include a Green Day print that I am seriously considering giving house room to, a great U2 poster from 2000 that was printed as a Virgin Megastore chain in-store only promotional poster and stunning prints from The Who, Oasis and Bob Dylan. Finally my other favourite from this delivery is a Pink Floyd poster for a series of shows in Moscow in 1989 - not great printing but from pre-Glasnost Russia this has a charm all its own.  Give your wall a treat...

CRIKEY! means gee whiz, wow
Firstly, I'd like to send my best wishes down under to the friends, family and fans of the legendary Steve Irwin. What an inspiration that man was, still is and will continue to be to the millions of animal lovers and wildlife watchers around the world.
He was lucky enough to do something he loved and one could only wish to have such enthusiasm for life and an excitement in work. In the words of the great man...
'I have no fear of losing my life. If I have to save a koala or a crocodile or a kangaroo or a snake, mate, I will save it'.

Le Retour d'Elvis
For all you Elvis fans here's a selection of items we found on our recent trip to France. First up is the He Touched Me 5-track sampler CD with a sepia-toned picture of Elvis printed on the disc, housed inside a lovely digipak sleeve showing Elvis playing piano. There's also a superb CD issue of Rockin' Presley, first released as an EP in Germany in November 1956, with replica sleeve artwork and repro label disc graphics. In a timely fashion we also have a few copies of the Elvis BMG Strategic Catalogue Marketing 25-track White Christmas CD, with replica sleeve art and a 'Season's Greetings from ELVIS and ALL OF US' back cover message alongside a Santa and snowman image. Earlier this year DeAgostini and Universal Music released in Japan an exclusive Golden Pops Special CD package, only available from news-stands and book stores. In addition to the 10-track CD, there's a bonus glossy booklet with lyrics, all housed inside a 12" x 10" box which is designed to resemble a book. Oh, and did I mention the Excellent condition UK original HMV No.2 vinyl LP...? We have very limited quantities of the CDs, plus a number of other CD titles which are all one-offs - they will all be hitting the site later today so keep an eye on the latest arrivals, or contact our sales team direct if you wish to reserve any item listed here...

France - there and back again
Just been rediscovering some of the amazing items we bought last week during our mini French road trip. It always seems to take me a few days to remember what we actually bought - if you'd asked me the day after our return I could have barely recalled a single item. Now, however, it's all coming back to me in waves and rushes. In just four days buying we unearthed just under £35k of juicy collectables. Sitting proudly at the top of the vinyl heap is a MINT, yes MINT condition copy of the Pretty Things' 'Midnight To Six Man' original French LP, just one of a number of titles previously held in the RTL Radio library. All the LPs we got from them are PERFECT - some are indeed unplayed - not least a mint copy of Sonny Rollins' 'At Music Inn' MGM 10" LP. Other vinyl highlights include a Jean Michel Jarre/Domique Webb 'Hypnose' 7", The Who 'Substitute' French Polydor single with wrap-around cover, an excellent 'My Generation EP', Mike Vernon's 'Bring It Back Home' Blue Horizon LP, Capt Beefheart's 'Safe As Milk' Super Group 'beach scene' cover and also the super rare French-only RED vinyl pressing, plus two mint condition originals of Pink Floyd's 'A Saucerful..' Columbia LP both with index tags intact, a Warhorse Vertigo LP, and my two particular favourite soundtracks; Fraggle Rock and SOS Fantomes (aka Ghostbusters) !!!

On the Beatles front we found a wonderful condition copy of their '14 Plus Grandes Succes' French-only LP with the unique 'horse' image cover, plus mint examples of the 'No.1' (aka Please Please Me) LP, an original top-opening low-numbered 'White Album', '4 Garcons dans le Vant', an LSO red label issue of 'Rubber Soul', a few copies of the excellent 'Once Upon A Time In Germany' box set and numerous solo Paul McCartney CD singles, most of which have been long deleted.

In addition to these vinyl gems we also cherry-picked our way through a huge collection of 15,000 CD singles, selecting nearly 500 of the best, long deleted and rare editions from those of a less interesting nature. We restocked many of Mylene Farmer's older CD singles, as well as the latest promo for Puet-etre Toi, plus a Divine Comedy

This week's news...
I received a parcel from a good and regular supplier - lots of the legular CDs along with some promo/sample 7” singles. Still waiting for his Ok on our offers... fingers crossed we can agree on a deal. I spent this weekend in another island in South West of Japan searching for more rare items then returned to my office for sorting and packing them ready for my next shipment to the UK... some of the interesting items I will be shipping include Manic St Preachers Generation Terrorist picture disc vinyl [I think you will agree it's strange to find a rare UK record in Japan!] plus the mis-pressed Led Zeppelin Grammaphon issue LP. I went to sleep early with a sore throat pain then as I am so hard working, I woke up in the midnight to check e-mails…I think I must blame Japanese air conditioning technology for this illness right now.

PINK FLOYD (GOOD ERA)...
A couple of classic Floyd items from the wonderful Syd Barrett era have arrived on our doorsteps recently. First up is a stunning original MONO vinyl version of the 'The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn' album followed by a superb UK 7" copy of Syd's only commercially released single on the original Harvest label 'Octopus'.
On to a slightly different era and we've unearthed a genuine U2 rarity in the shape of the UK 'Discotheque' CD single in the WITHDRAWN jewel case picture sleeve, before it was replaced by the digipak version.

More highlights to follow this week should be some nice limited editions/picture discs/shapes from the likes of Iron Maiden & Metallica, so keep checking back...

News Stateside - The Rarest Beatles Poster Known to Man !!

If you Missed Out On Yesterday, Your Chance At Tomorrow Arrives Today!

Probably the most widely known Beatles LP rarity is the original “Butcher Cover” of the Yesterday and Today album in 1966.  Deemed too offensive for the times, it was immediately pasted over with a much more traditional Fab Four shot.  Capitol Records commissioned official display posters of the original, withdrawn LP cover, most of which were destroyed 40 years ago.  We, however, have one authentic, original specimen of this mega-rare Yesterday & Today poster in stock, and it’s in remarkably well-preserved condition.  I can think of no rarer memorabilia to display and/or covet as you so choose.  With the prices of original Beatles collectables going ever-higher, here’s your chance to own something both prestigious and visually stunning!

No doubt you've all read Sauls account of what went on in Liverpool last week and if you haven't read it yet you really should as his memory of the events are clearer than mine as most of my memories of the weekend are seen through a haze of fizzy apple juice and Budwater.

After the enjoyable evening at the Cavern/Adelphi, long after drunken foreigners, accordian players, Tony Sheridan and fires were but a distant, blurred memory, we attended the Beatles auction at LIPA - formerly McCartneys old school.

Like the true professionals we are, we'd already located the venue the day before (eventually) so we headed straight there but still had trouble finding the entrance, not because of the hangovers we were both nursing but due to the fact that the building looked different in the rain! (honestly)

The auction itself was a long drawn out affair with many of the items below the condition that we would stock, so it meant sitting through many lots waiting for the few that were of interest.

The items that we did secure were FAB, some of which have already hit the site and many will be appearing over the next few days. These items include a rather special 5" tall promotional brass Apple, Worchester Ware Tin Trays and Proudholme Ceramic Tiles amongst others.

For collectors of the Beatles creme de le creme, we are pleased to announce the arrival of 3 full sets of genuine autographs dating back to 1962, plus part sets and solo signatures, something for everyone so keep checking back.....

The Long And Winding Road...
...or A Never Ending Motorway, A Fire, Accordions, Drunk Europeans, oh and The Beatles. So how was your weekend? Mine was a little out of the ordinary to be honest. I arrived at work on Friday morning ready for another hard day of marketing and promotion only to be told; “You’re off to Liverpool with Steve to the Mathew Street Beatles Festival”. “No!” said I, “I am committed and tied to my desk for the next eight hours, I can’t possibly desert my post and swan off up, oh ok if you insist.”So off we went on our Magical Mystery Tour and 7 hours later, yes SEVEN HOURS LATER we arrive in Liddypool. Our first point of call, like all good professionals is to find out where we needed to be for the auction first thing on Saturday morning.

Paul McCartney’s LIPA (Liverpool Institute of the Performing Arts) was our intended destination, and after walking the full circumference of the building, scratching our heads wondering where the hell in Ringo’s trousers it could possibly be we decided the big school like building with LIPA carved in stone above the door may just hold the answer.

Next goal was to find a hotel with vacancies on the busiest week in the Liverpool calendar and a bank holiday to boot. Well, with the gods smiling on us the first hotel we tried had a room, which meant we were either really lucky or it was a flea infested pit that rats in Albert dock wouldn’t even be up for kipping in. Fortunately it was the former and most comfy it was too.

In the name of research we headed to the city centre and up to Mathew Street and the Cavern quarter. The heavens opened and the rain hammered down so we had no choice but to duck into the Cavern for a lemonade.  I had been to Liverpool 4 or 5 times before for various Beatles related trips taking the bus tours and visiting the homes of the Fabs but for some unknown reason I had never made it to the Cavern. Even though the Cavern is across the road from its original location it still has an amazing aura and mystique that has to be experienced to be fully understood. As a Beatles fan it was quite a breathtaking moment walking down the dark black bricked stairway with the strains of [reply to this topic]

Despite predictions that downloading would kill off CDs, sales are as strong as ever. This is an interesting article from the Daily Telgraph that predicts a resurgence in vinyl and this is another interesting read about collecting jazz vinyl.
