Michael Cambridge - UK Northern Office UNITED KINGDOM Created Wed 19th Dec '07 00:11 (GMT) Edited Thu 20th Dec '07 00:36 (GMT)Fuming!!! I see from the news that those bloody EU cronies are now trying to infringe our freedom to drive whatever vehicle we want on the grounds of carbon emmisions. So now if you dare drive a guzzler you are viewed as some kind of polution terrorist. We just have to ignore that 2 of the largest countries in the world destroy the environment at a rate that is frankly shocking, and as the powers that be won't tackle that, they hit the motorist. It's not anything to do with moves to increase tax of course!!
Question is what's worse Global warming or driving a piece of crap Focus - Hey grab the sunscreen!!
A more musical entry tommorow....

Hi Everyone. This is officially the busiest week of the entire year for me in terms of buying amazing collectables, and getting them sorted in enough time to buy MORE collectables. The amount of cool stuff, much of which we've not seen in YEARS, will be hitting our site between now and the end of 2007, provided I don't collapse first from excessive caffeine consumption. I broke my own personal record for hours and days without any sleep while working around-the-clock, and now I'm crazed and unstable -- OK, some would say that's business as usual, and to those people I would say: BACK OFF! Julian Thomas - UK Office UNITED KINGDOM Created Fri 14th Dec '07 16:43 (GMT)Cold storage indeed Never has a phrase been more appropriate. Tomorrow, Richard and I will be donning fingerless gloves, woolly hats, scarves & coats to delve into the wondrous depths of just some of the numerous boxes of stock we squirreled away years ago. A quick, mental count-up suggests about 12,000 CDs to begin with, then once they're sorted we'll be able to access the additional 18,000 CDs piled up behind them. Who knows what we'll find amongst the albums, singles, promos & CD-Rs? The last trawl unearthed some interesting titles including; ex-Blow Monkey, Dr. Robert singles & albums, a stack of Katie Melua's timeless Crazy CD singles, plus an album & single by a little known band called Adom , produced by & featuring Richard Barbieri . The thrill of discovery remains undiluted, and if all else fails we'll have lots of spare cases to use! PS - Mark, you forgot to mention Coldplay , and the disco classic A.E.I.O.U. by Freez! I've already got my copy & had to have it shipped half way across the world at great expense. In fact, it ended up costing me about a tenner more than you will have to pay if you get it HERE . I bought it because it really IS as good as you hope it will be. I think anyone who has listened to Tal's playing will realise that you are hearing something very special indeed. This young lady has a very great future ahead of her & she's already frightened some of the existing 'greats'. Comparisons to a young Jaco are easy to make - she manages to play with so much empathy to what's going on around her that it's quite something to see & hear. If you were lucky enough to see her & Vinnie Colaiuta playing with Jeff Beck, it was a revelation to watch them trading off complex accents & grinning at each other as they did it. It was one of the best & most together rhythm sections I have ever seen and they were having FUN !!! I thought this CD was good enough to hunt down a copy immediately, Australian only or not, but now you can get one from us for considerably cheaper - how good is that ?
I'd like to especially thank the long suffering Mr Simon Wright for not only arranging for us to list this amazing debut CD, but also for resisting the temptation to deliver extreme whacks as I badgered him about it non-stop for the last fortnight :-) [reply to this topic ]
Michael Cambridge - UK Northern Office UNITED KINGDOM Created Wed 12th Dec '07 16:13 (GMT) Edited Thu 13th Dec '07 01:28 (GMT) Edited 4 times Led Zep Reform - Yawn!!! With the whole world going on and on and about the OAP Led Zep collective and a strand of John Lennons hair selling for £24,000, you'd be forgiven for thinking the whole world's gone mad. But then again we live in a country that no longer makes or develops anything, or has any industrial talent left. We simply rely on marketeers to convince us we are in the creative hub of the world.
Well me I'm off to sit in a darkened room and listen to Joy Division !! and finish reading Fantasy Island whilst counting down the 70 days till Anton Corbjins Joy Division biopic Control comes out on DVD. The thought of sitting in a cinema with other people watching the soundtrack to one of the most important bands ever seemed very wrong. That and morons with mobile phones in cinemas and bloody nachos snacks - very very wrong!! [reply to this topic ]

Julian Thomas - UK Office UNITED KINGDOM Created Tue 11th Dec '07 18:46 (GMT)McCartney uncut In one of the few quiet moments this week, when sales of our Led Zeppelin collectables weren't occupying one and all, I managed to find this little gem from another ever-so-slightly famous & successful artist, namely Sir Paul McCartney. Earlier this year he released 'Dance Tonight' from his 'Memory Almost Full' album and, here in the UK, it was available as a very limited edition shaped picture disc . Except this is one of the incredibly rare *UNCUT * versions; essentially it's a test pressing, used to check sound quality and image alignment prior to the final run of cut-to-shape discs being manufactured. Back in the 1980s, when shaped picture discs were all the rage, getting an uncut was the holy grail for many of us. In fact I am still looking for an uncut copy of FGTH's apple shaped picture disc for Pleasuredome (so if you know of one that might be for sale please do let me know) but I was hugely surprised, not to mention pleased, to find that the occasional uncut disc can still make its way into the hands of us collectors now we're some 20+ years further down the line. I do recall that some of the uncuts back in the 80s seemed to be more common than the shapes, but that is definitely not the case today. So this is indeed a great chance to obtain a modern rarity from one of the most collectable artists of all time - just, whatever you do, don't make a clock out of it![reply to this topic ]

A quick blog post as I prepare for a heavy days buying tommorow [complete with man-flu] but I thought I would just make you aware of an Amazing Queen item added today.
This is a fantabulous FULLY Autographed unique framed display piece with a 10" x 8" photograph of the band with several female fans plus a FULLY AUTOGRAPHED sheet of paper. This was signed for one of the girls featured in the photograph. Uniquely Roger has written 'Queen' in his 'Bubble Writing' [which he did up until 1976]. In addition he has written a loveheart within the 'Q' which from our research is the first example that has reached the market.

Julian Thomas - UK Office UNITED KINGDOM Created Fri 7th Dec '07 17:10 (GMT)The state of things Partially inspired by performances on last week's Later with Jools we have today been listening to The State Of Things by Reverend And The Makers. They probably wouldn't thank me for the comparison but, to me, they sound just like Duran Duran should have sounded with their latest album. Sadly, the DD/Timberlake effect is tired old sh*te applied to a tired old bunch of poseurs who should have quit years ago. Duran were one of my favourite bands, indeed I've seen them live four & a half times but they were, without exception, rubbish every time. The 'half' was when they toured their God awful Thank You album & I left half way through. Why oh why oh why oh why...? On a completely different tack we've also been playing 'The Enchantment' by piano legend Chick Corea and the banjo marvel Bela Fleck - if you saw his performance on Jools last week you can't help but be amazed at this man's talent. If your idea of banjos conjures images of Deliverance and 'I bet you can squeal like a pig', think again. This man has true talent with not a duel in sight. Finally, Robert Wyatt's latest album, Comicopera, is a grower and his saxophonist Gilad Atzmon has found a new fan in my colleague Richard, who swore blind it was Van Der Graaf Generator's David Jackson!

Richard Austin - UK Office UNITED KINGDOM Created Thu 6th Dec '07 16:45 (GMT) Edited Thu 6th Dec '07 16:45 (GMT)Prohibition repealed! Well, at least it was in 1933 in the US.
One of the strangest things about my first visit to Ronnie Scotts since the UK smoking ban was enforced was sitting in one of the world's classic small smoky Jazz clubs and it not being smoky.
It was kind of like going to a Grand Prix where they'd fixed silencers to the cars.
Some things are just meant to be & for Jazz clubs & classic English pubs (remember them ?) it was part of the ambience that made them what they were.
It would have been nice if pubs & venues had been given the choice to opt in or opt out of the no smoking rule or have a room to give people a choice (apparently they call that democracy) but blanket prohibition was enforced regardless.
Smokers & non-smokers alike have said to me that they feel something has been lost. I have to agree.
It does seem strange when such decisions are made by people who drive cars that emit more pollutants in a day than a smoker does in a year!
Still, no argument that it's bad for you (like death bad) & it's not a good thing. No argument that it's a foolish thing to start - so don't.
I just miss it in such places in the same way that I miss choking fumes from steam trains - a part of the past has been lost. It would just have been nice if, like the rest of the past, it had been allowed to fade away gracefully rather than by decree.

Stephen Borkowski - UK Buyer UNITED KINGDOM Created Thu 6th Dec '07 15:38 (GMT) Edited Thu 6th Dec '07 15:47 (GMT) Edited 2 times Stop Worrying Help Is On The Way! It's fast and furious here as the silly season has kicked in. I've not really had time to keep everyone updated with all the great stock I've been picking up but here are a few of my favourites from the last week or so.
The Beatles - Stop Worrying - Help Box Set . A superb promo only box set issued at the launch of the DVD to people in attendance. Only 250 of these were made and we've managed to secure a handful. They contain 8 large replica lobby cards printed on high quality card plus 3 press sheets in a fantastic custom box.
A customised beige hessian eco-bag with 'K' motif and Kylie face design plus 10 red heart shaped balloons with 2 Hearts text and release date - Great for this time of year!
Led Zeppelin - Lacie Hard Drive preloaded with EVERY Zepp album. This item is truly sub-zero it's so cool. Only 100 of these were manufactured to promote the recent Mothership release, many have been given to large publications to run competitions with but if like me you never seem to win anything (Zeppelin tickets excluded) then you don't have to chance your luck - you can buy one! Don't delay though, like the tickets the demand is bound to be high for this.
The Beatles/Peter Blake - Sgt Pepper Autographed Sleeve.
It was 20 years ago today.... Well it was when this was signed. To mark the 20th anniversary of the release of Sgt Pepper and the release of the album on CD, an exhibition was held in London. This album was purchased on the day and Peter Blake signed and dated it - how cool is that!?
Still lots to come before Xmas including MORE Zeppelin - this time in the form of an original 1975 Earls Court poster - watch this space for more details......

Julian Thomas - UK Office UNITED KINGDOM Created Tue 4th Dec '07 18:24 (GMT)Sgt Pepper acetates My first real introduction to The Beatles wasn't actually The Beatles at all. My dad took me to the local cinema to see the 1978 film version of Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band featuring Peter Frampton and the Bee Gees. Being almost 30 years ago I don't remember too much about the film itself but I do remember loving the music and asking if we could buy the soundtrack LP. To my delight, the following Saturday, we popped into our local independent record shop to pick up a copy. However, dad insisted that we buy not the original soundtrack, but the original Beatles LP. I still have that copy to this day, much played, and with what remains of the quickly cut out cut-outs! Fast forward those 30 years to last week, and whilst looking through a collection of vinyl rarities I stumbled across a mint copy of the soundtrack double LP, complete with sleeve stickers, poster and still factory sealed from new. In addition, there was also a stunning set of four 1-sided LP acetates for the soundtrack from Kendun Recorders Burbank Studio, complete with studio labels and hand annotated library sleeves with George Martin production credit. From pre-production to finished article we are offering this superb set of rarities together, and they are absolutely Mint. [reply to this topic ]
Laura Stoneman - UK and Import Releases UNITED KINGDOM Created Tue 4th Dec '07 09:59 (GMT) Edited Tue 4th Dec '07 10:00 (GMT)3 Weeks Til Xmas......
Good Morning. I seem to always be apologizing for my lack of blogs but this time I can't blame it on being busy. Nope, this time it is down to 2 weeks of illness. So there I was on Sunday 18th still on a MASSIVE GIG HIGH after seeing Arcade Fire on their 1st sold-out night at London's Alexandra Palace the night before (although nearly getting crushed by the thousands queueing for the bus shuttle back to Wood Green Tube Station wasn't much fun). I have to say, I don't think I've danced so much at a gig before, they were absolutely phenomenal and I thoroughly recommend seeing them if you get the chance. But then at 4:30am Monday morning, out of nowhere I was suddenly struck down with a lovely & thoughtful sickness bug which left me feeling & looking rather ill the whole week [with quotes from colleagues & friends including "jeez, you look rough" and "you look & sound awful"]; and then just as I thought I'd shrugged it off, the equally friendly Flu virus decided that it too wanted to attack me. Just what I needed, I'm sure you can imagine. On my arrival back at work last Wednesday, I was told "this is the most human you've looked in 2 weeks" which was somewhat nice to hear. Anyhow, back to business. A lot of forthcoming details were added in my absence but yesterday I received details of the new album from RINGO STARR which will be released on 14th January 2008 RINGO STARR Liverpool 8
'Liverpool 8' is the brand new album from legendary artist Ringo Starr – his first new album with Capitol/EMI since 'Goodnight Vienna' in 1974. The single 'Liverpool 8' will be released on January 7, just ahead of the massive celebrations planned to launch the Liverpool City Of Culture profile, (usefully called 'Liverpool 08') at which Ringo will be the 'star' attraction. 'Liverpool 8' features 12 new tracks, written and produced by Ringo Starr and Dave Stewart, and "refers to the section of Liverpool where I used to live," explains Ringo. "The song was actually D...
