Richard Austin - UK Office UNITED KINGDOM Created Fri 7th Jul '06 16:25 (GMT) Edited Tue 25th Jul '06 16:26 (GMT) Edited 3 times In Defence Of The Guitar To answer Mike's question; Guitarists close their eyes when tweezing THE PURRRRFECT NOTE out of their instrument: 1) Because they can 2) Because that bent knee stance they also have to adopt can become painful after a time 3) Think of what the audience might look like ! - Perhaps some relief from having to look at the various ne'er-do-wells frequenting the front row ? 4) Maybe the tight leather trousers have started to chafe.
I think that actually it's an involuntary reaction similar to that when sneezing ... When you're potentially about to eject something perhaps less than pleasant on an unsuspecting public, perhaps you HAVE to close your eyes. The problem is that most of them are not in the same league as Mr Jeff Beck , so they have to 'do the guitarist thang' in the rock environment to cover up for their lack of originality/talent - A bit like hiding behind a bank (or three) of keyboards :-) Gawd bless rhythm guitarists!! Michael Cambridge - UK Northern Office UNITED KINGDOM Created Tue 4th Jul '06 16:21 (GMT)Whingebag.com Greetings - After the last few weeks ranting about Foot**ll i'm turning my attention and rant to those muppets and their guitar solos. Never has there been such a waste of a guitar than to to wrestle some god awful noodle out of it (and why do they shut their eyes when they do it??). So in the spirit of god awful guitar solos todays blog entry contrasts the anti-christ Queen whose crimes against guitars are legendary with those of the clean cut Indie boys Keane who don't even use them. So if you are in the Queen corner check out a superb fully autographed 1979 tour program which has been signed by the band including Freddie, oh and it's framed as well Yet to be added are several superb pieces including an IMMENSE 4ft Fully Autographed Poster. But if you are in Keane camp then checkout a lovely spread of Keane collectables hitting the site in the next few days from the collection of a fellow obsessive fan with ALL the rarities including the stupendously rare 50 only debut CD Wolf At The Door (yes I kid you not). Just added a few minutes ago was the Fierce Panda original release CD single Fully Autographed and a fab Fierce Panda CDR acetate of the same single - the first we have seen!! Next time arch enemy Clapton versus Coldplay, If you have any more suggestions/abuse feel free to email me at whingebag@eil.com Click here to view my Latest Arrivals page [reply to this topic ]
