Don't Bend Ascend (2012 US limited edition 4-track double disc album pressed on One LP and One Seven Inch - Their fourth studio release marked the beginning of their major stylistic change, being less technically complex and emphasizing further on drones while abandoning the concept of movements altogether – a compositional format they would continue to employ until 2021's G_d's Pee at State's End!. Presented in a different running order [compared to the CD edition], the LP includes the longer Mladic and We Drift Like Worried Fire while the 7" disc features the shorter tracks: Their Helicopters' Sing and Strung Like Lights At Thee Printemps Erable. A highlight of Bobby Hutcherson's adventurous 1970s output, Montara (1975) captures the vibraphonist blending Latin jazz with fusion grooves in an irresistibly uplifting set recorded in his hometown of Los Angeles. Joined by an outstanding cast including Willie Bobo, Blue Mitchell, Ernie Watts, Harvey Mason, and Bobby Matos, Hutcherson moves seamlessly between percussive Latin fire and lush harmonic textures.
