The original scoreto the 1987 drama directed by Andrei Konchalovsky, the Russian director who early in his career was the screenwriting collaborator of Andrei Tarkovsky. The film premiered at the 1987 Cannes Film Festival to acclaim, with Barbara Hershey takinghome the award for BestActress for her role as Ruth. The plot revolves around Diana, a successful New York journalist commissioned to write about her distant relatives and their difficult lives deep in the bayous of Louisiana, resulting in a culture clash between the cosmopolitan and the rural.

The legendary kosmische outfit, led by Edgar Froese, composed scores for more than 20 films throughout the 1980s. Their haunting, complex, multi-layered synth work combined with dreamlike vocals proved to be the perfect accompaniment to the palpable tension between Diana and her family, and the score works perfectly well on its own. Afro Medusa formed in the late 1990s when Isabel Fructuoso moved to London and met Patrick Cole and Nick Bennett. The trio first released 'Pasilda' in 1999, and the track quickly gained popularity on UK and US club scenes over the following year, especially after appearing at Miami's Winter Music Conference in March 2000.
