Produced almost entirely by No I.D. (then working under the name Immenslope) and The Twilite Tone, with additional work from The Beatnuts, the record put Chicago hip hop on the national map at a time when the city had almost no presence in mainstream rap. It includes "Take It EZ," "Breaker 1/9" and "Soul by the Pound," three tracks that all reached the Rap charts, and traces of the soulful, sample-driven sound Common would fully develop on his next album are already audible throughout. Seven instrumental tracks that range from the dexterously ridiculous to the brilliantly sublime, though with one common theme: the profundity of the sea. As Rothery explains: "In winter you could hear the roaring of the ofthe waves during the stormy weather, Whitby was a very evocative place to live, a very poetic and powerful place to grow up. So, I suppose this record, is a way of expressing some of those memories and emotions about what the sea meant to me."

'The Roaring Waves' has been in the making for the best part of eight years, though the initial idea of the pair making an album together was first mooted around three years before that, but their respective day jobs and touring itineraries kept them from working together for months at a time. Though recording sessions at the Racket Club, and their respective home studios yielded a rich seam of creativity. "It was a bit old school our approach, like the idea of mates getting together in the garage and playing and hanging out" says Hackett of their approach to creativity.

For now, this is a standalone album, with neither guitarist even able to commit time to live dates let alone the thought of making another album together again just yet. So, for now, as the tides rise and recede, faces turn to the empty horizon waiting for one final ship to be brought into land, to finally return home.

Marco Beltrami had scored almost nothing before Scream landed on his desk, three ultra-low-budget films and a couple of TV shows, and by his own admission wasn't even a horror fan. He got the job on the strength of a single demo cue written for one early scene, and ended up creating a suspense-horror sound so distinctive it launched a career that later took him to two Academy Award nominations. GENESIS The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway (2026 Blu-ray Audio - Dolby Atmos Mix - 2025 Studio Album Remaster - 24bit/96kHz Uncompressed - Originally released in 1974 Genesis's last album with Peter Gabriel is a sprawling, hallucinatory concept record about Rael, a Puerto Rican street kid loose in a surreal, decaying New York, and it exists at all because Gabriel fought for it. He pushed his own idea past bandmate Mike Rutherford's pitch to adapt The Little Prince, calling it "too twee," then broke the band's usual rule of splitting lyric-writing duties, insisting on writing every word himself. The tension that decision caused never fully went away: Gabriel quietly told the band mid-tour he was leaving Genesis for good, news kept secret from fans and press for months. What's left on tape is one of prog rock's most ambitious, uncompromising records, still, five decades later, a genuinely strange listen in the best possible way. This Blu-ray audio disc includes the 2025 Dolby Atmos mix, produced by Bob Mackenzie at Real World Studios under the supervision of Peter Gabriel and Tony Banks, alongside the 2025 remaster in 96kHz/24-bit uncompressed audio, breaking out from last year's 50th anniversary boxset. THE MUFFS Live At Fort Apache (2026 US limited edition 14-track LP pressed on Black Vinyl. On 1 June 1995, just weeks after the release of Blonder and Blonder, The Muffs took over Boston's legendary Fort Apache Studios for a live broadcast on alternative station WFNX, tearing through fourteen songs in a set that opened with "Agony" hitting the room like a jolt of electricity. Fort Apache had already become one of the defining studios of the era, home to early sessions from Pixies, Radiohead, Hole and Dinosaur Jr., and this show captures Kim Shattuck's band at full force, right as they were becoming one of the most fiercely loved punk acts to come out of LA. It's the first official full-length live album The Muffs have ever released. The record includes liner notes from Troy Smith, author of Nirvana: The Chosen Rejects, and Muffs drummer Roy McDonald. The album's cover, a Michael Whelan illustration, was originally commissioned by Roadrunner for this record, but the label handed it instead to Obituary's Cause of Death, and Sepultura ended up using a different piece by the same artist. ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK The Talented Mr. Ripley (At The Movies Limited Edition 2026 UK/EU 19-track double album 2-LP set pressed on 180-gram Orange Vinyl. Director Anthony Minghella made a deliberate change to Patricia Highsmith's novel for his 1999 film: turning Dickie Greenleaf, played by Jude Law, from a painter into a jazz obsessive, setting his loose, improvisational world against the clenched, classically trained Tom Ripley, playedby Matt Damon. Minghella described Ripley as "arriving in Italy terrified of letting go, of speaking from the soul in that way jazz demands of its players," a tension that runs through the entire soundtrack. Damon does his own singing most memorably on "My Funny Valentine," recorded specifically for the film. Gabriel Yared's Oscar-nominated score is woven between genuine jazz recordings from Miles Davis, Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie, alongside "Lullaby for Cain," written by Yared and performed by Sinéad O'Connor. The Definitive Collection traces Michael Jackson's earliest recorded output on two clearly delineated sides: his run of hits as the Jackson5's youngest member, "I Want You Back," "ABC" and "I'll Be There," and his parallel solo singles for Motown, including "Got To Be There," "Rockin' Robin" and "Ben." The latter became Jackson's first solo number one in 1972, written for the horror film of the same name and originally offered to Donny Osmond before Jackson recorded it instead. Together, the two sides capture the period before Off the Wall reshaped his career, when Jackson was already carrying two simultaneous recording identities at once. Harry Gregson-Williams and John Powell split the work on Shrek right down the middle: Gregson-Williams built the film's fairy-tale sound, including the theme that opens the movie, while Powell tackled the big action set pieces and character themes, "Ride the Dragon" among them, reportedly his own favourite cue on the whole score.
