The song has become one of the band’s signature tracks and finally achieved international success in 1986 when Robert Smith re-recorded the vocal and remixed the backing track. Despite its creation for the Staring At The Sea/Standing On A Beach singles compilation released that year, the 1986 version was not included on the album which instead used the original 1979 recording. As a result, the later mix has remained largely unavailable. This 12" single brings together the remixed track alongside the period B-sides and an extended 12" mix.
