Frankie Knuckles and Larry Levan met as teenagers in New York, working as DJs together at the Continental Baths before their paths split in a single, genre-defining moment: when Warehouse owner Robert Williams offered Levan a residency at a new Chicago club in 1977, Levan turned it down and recommended his friend instead. Knuckles took the job, and the club's name would eventually be shortened by regulars into a word that named an entire genre: house. Levan, meanwhile, built his own decade-long residency at New York's Paradise Garage, where his marathon sets became known among devotees as "Saturday Mass," laying the groundwork for what would become garage. Two friends, two clubs, two cities, one shared musical language.

This third release in the RE:VERSAL series brings together remix and production work from both DJs: Frankie Knuckles's Paradise Ballroom remix of Womack & Womack's "MPB (Missin' Persons Bureau)" alongside his own "What Am I Missin'" with Adeva, paired with Larry Levan's mixes of Gwen Guthrie's "Peanut Butter" and Syreeta's "Can't Shake Your Love."
