Originally recorded in August 1957 when Lee Morgan was still only 19, City Lights captures the trumpeter early inhis Blue Note run with a sextet comprising Curtis Fuller, George Coleman, Ray Bryant, Paul Chambers and Art Taylor. At the time, Morgan was also drawing attention through his work with the Dizzy Gillespie Big Band, and this five-track set documents that early period with a line-up built around hard bop precision and strong ensemble playing.
