An essential hard-bop session from one of jazz's most dynamic trumpeters, Here's Lee Morgan captures the young virtuosoin 1960 leading a top-tier quintet through a mix of burning originals and balladic introspection. Backed by Clifford Jordan (tenor sax), Wynton Kelly (piano), Paul Chambers (bass), and Art Blakey (drums), this is Lee Morgan's 10th album - originally released on Vee-Jay Records and now beautifully reissued as part of the Craft Recordings Original Jazz Classics Series. This edition features all-analog mastering from the original tapes by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio, pressed on 180-gram vinyl at RTI, and housed in a deluxe Stoughton tip-on jacket with OJC-series obi strip. From the fiery opener "Terrible 'T'" to the soulful ballad "I'm A Fool To Want You", Morgan's playing is bold, lyrical, and full of character - a vital snapshot of a rising star backed by a legendary rhythm section.
