LEE MORGAN The Procrastinator (Blue Note Classic Vinyl Series 2025 UK/EU 6-track LP mastered all-analog from the original master tapes by Kevin Gray at Cohearant Audio and pressed on 180-gram black vinyl at Optimal. Recorded in 1967 butleft unreleased until 1978, The Procrastinator is now recognised as one of Lee Morgan's late-'60s masterworks. Leading a stellar sextet featuring Wayne Shorter (tenor saxophone), Bobby Hutcherson (vibraphone), Herbie Hancock (piano), Ron Carter (bass), and Billy Higgins (drums), Morgan delivers an inspired set blending inventive hard bop with atmospheric sophistication. Four Morgan originals - including the captivating title track, the swinging "Party Time," and the high-energy "Stopstart" - sit alongside two Wayne Shorter compositions: the reflective ballad "Dear Sir" and the sultry "Rio."
