recordings in his catalogue. Recorded in Bamako, Mali with a
specially assembled ngoni group, the album draws deeply on
traditional Malian music while carrying the blues intensity
long associated with Touré's playing and voice. Often
regarded as one of his finest works, <I>Savane</I> remains
a powerful final statement from one of African music's most
important artists. Housed in a gatefold picture sleeve with a
