While Mardi Gras saw John Fogerty, Doug Clifford, and Stu Cook each contributing songs andvocals, the album still bears all the hallmarks of CCR's classic sound - earthy grooves, Southern-tinged melodies, and unvarnished honesty. Highlights include Fogerty's bittersweet "Someday Never Comes", the chart-topping rocker "Sweet Hitch-Hiker", and a lively cover of "Hello Mary Lou." Released during a time of transition and tension, Mardi Gras nonetheless remains a testament to the spirit of CCR - a band that defined American roots rock with timeless songs and unrelenting authenticity.
