1969's <I>Bayou Country</I> celebrates the album that
defined the group's swamp rock identity and launched them
into the mainstream. Featuring the anthemic "Proud Mary"
and the hypnotic "Born On The Bayou", <I>Bayou
Country</I> captures CCR at their most confident - tight,
gritty, and steeped in Southern-inspired rhythm and blues.
Elsewhere, the band channels raw rock energy on "Good Golly
Miss Molly" and stretches out into swampy jams like "Keep On
Chooglin'" and "Graveyard Train." The first of three albums
CCR released in 1969, <I>Bayou Country</I> set the tone for
one of the most prolific years in rock history, cementing the
band's reputation for precision, soul, and unrelenting drive.
