IRON MAIDEN / VARIOUS Rainbow Theatre - 50th Anniversary
(Official 1980 UK 36-page programme for the Levi sponsored
gigs to celebrate the 50th birthday of this historic venue. This
was issued for shows at the venue between 1st & 8th April,
artists appearing include The Jam, The Stanglers, Judas Priest,
Whitesnake and more. The great programme includes articles
and pictures of all the artists appearing, along with the history of
the venue and a complete list of every gig at the venue on the
inside from covers - from Miles Davis in 1960, to Frank Sinatra in
1964, The Who in 1966, David Bowie in 1972, The Clash in 1977
and many many more. This example remains in a fantastic

Back in 1980 Iron Maiden had just recorded their debut selftitled album, so toured in support of the release. They spent the first part of the tour as support to Judas Preist who were touring to promote their British Steel Tour.
This programme, as mentioned above features details about the band performing at the venue, includes two pages dominated by Judas Priest with a small section for Iron Maiden on teh second page, but this is then followed by a full page dedicated to Maiden, along with a full page advert for their debut album. The show at the Rainbow was on the 1st April with the album released ten days later.
They would late go back to the Rainbow Theatre two more times during 1980, the last time which was the last night of the tour was recorded and late released as their first live recording.
