Background, Specifics and Condition
This was the first Stereo issue produced in Australia. The original Mono presses had just the Mono catalogue number on the sleeve and Gold print Parlophone labels similar to the UK 'Black & gold' design.
By this time the Mono labels had started to use the 'black & yellow' design that is familiar from UK pressings but the Stereo had an unusual 'banner' black & silver design all of its own.
The differences don't stop there.
Although the sleeve was front laminated and flipback, this variant had a completely different design to the more familiar version and was unique to Australia & New Zealand. They kept the retro 'Parlophone' box on the front and the stereo copies were stickered with a wraparound sticker in the corner and printed with both the Mono & Stereo catalogue numbers on the back. Both sleeve and label have the 'Gotta' misprint as carried on the UK copies.
This flavour was issued on 19th March 1964.
Condition:
The all important sleeve remains in very nice condition indeed. There is a small amount of age discolouration on the back but this is minor. The flips are still secure and the spine clearly readable.
Apart froom a small amount of scuffing at the corners, the flimsy sleeve shows very little in the way of shelfwear, even after fifty six years.
This copy retains the polythene inner, as issued.
The vinyl, while obviously played, remains in wonderful condition with just a few light surface scuffs visible upon close inspection. There are a few spindle marks evident around the centre hole but not to excess and this copy has obviously been well looked after.
A very nice copy of this very hard to find Australian original. Just the second one we have stocked in over thirty five years and in MUCH better condition than usually found [if you manage to find one].
