 Apple label
Apple, a business venture begun by The Beatles', started in 1968 and included a range of commercial interests including boutiques and shops, as well as the label itself. Success for the label was guaranteed as The Beatles released their own records on it, but they did have other hit artists too.

They gave James Taylor his first chance to record an album as a solo artist, before he went on to record with Warner Brothers and become a international star. Mary Hopkin and Badfinger also released acclaimed albums through the label. Many of the other artists, while not hugely successful in terms of sales, got their chance due to a friendship with the Fab Four. Acts like Jackie Lomax and Billy Preston can thank their Beatles connections for their Apple releases.

Much of the label's collectability is to their owners but the releases do hold a distinctive persona among labels of the era. The labels, sleeves, catalogue numbers and many collaborations mean that perhaps their least financially successful releases are actually now their most sought. The rarest of the lot being the unissued 'King Of Fuh' (think about it!) by friend of George's, Stephen Friedland under the name Brute Force.
