THE BEATLES ABC Romford, March 20th 1963 (It's March 1963
and a tour across the country is already halfway through,
starting on the 9th in East Ham, the headliners are America's
Chris Montez and Tommy Roe. At the bottom of the bill is a
homegrown UK act, who have only released two singles and
just had their first number one; after only one day of the tour
they were the headliners and soon to become the biggest
band in the world. Although billed as 'Britain's Dynamic
Beatles' the band were still two days away from releasing the
debut album which would cement their place in music history.
Obtained from its one previous owner & original concert
attendee, this has been stored along with a ticket for the front
stalls. The handbill is very much in the 1950s / early 1960s
music hall style with a red on white print and cut-out head
graphics. The booking slip is intact at the bottom for the first
or second house, number of seats & stall or circle preference,
which remains blank. As you can appreciate, this authentic
handbill is very delicate & has six vertical fold marks visible,
with some creasing around the top & bottom edges with a
small spot of discolouration at the top. The very rare ticket
stub shows some creasing & is free from tears. This is a true
piece of not just music, but 20th century history, ideal for
framing & one you will be hard pushed to find anywhere
else...It all started here!).
