'The Lyrics of Tim Rice' was a television programme for Yorkshire Televsion made in 1985. This featured an extended interview with Tim conducted by Paul Gambaccini, interspersed with performances of Tim Rice songs. In addition, Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus were brought on so that the three creators of Chess could discuss the show together. The programme lasted around an hour and twenty minutes. Most of the songs from shows where Tim provided the lyrics were semi-staged with the sets and costumes resembling the way they appeared in the theatre. The performers included Cantabile, Barbara Dickson, David Essex, Murray Head, The Jean Pearce Children, Paul Jones, Paul Nicholas, Elaine Paige, Marti Webb, and Colm Wilkinson.
This was shortly after the release of the 'Chess' double album and before the musical had been staged, but the programme was very much centred around this production.
Following the recording of the programme, there was a celebration dinner at the Box Tree Restaurant in Ilkley, West Yorkshire, with many of the people involved in the TV programme in attendance. This was held in the Private Dining Room of the Box Tree restaurant, which at the time had a two star Michelin rating under resident and renowned Chef, Michael Truelove. Grand Sommelier at this event was Steve Hird, who collected the autographs of the people on the back of a blank menu card.
This card was signed for and obtained directly from Steve (the Grand Sommelier) who has retained it since that very evening.
Well, here it is, as Steve has finally decided to part with it.
The collected autographs, all signed in blue ballpoint & dedicated to Steve, consist of:

There is an additional signature that we are unable to decipher, although it does appear that the surname is Moberg. As we cannot verify it, that can only really be considered as a bonus.
The front of the menu is a print of 'The Boy With The Hurdy-Gurdy by Nichol.
A superb collection and historic memento of the 'Chess' musical [and all who sailed in her] with impeccable provenance. A true one-off that is bound to appreciate.
