PINK FLOYD The First Three Albums (Very rare collection of
EXPORT LP editions of 'The Piper At The Gates Of
Dawn', 'A Saucerful Of Secrets' & 'More' releases, each in
front laminated picture sleeve. These rare export editions
were issued for sale in countries for which 'Columbia' was a
trademark of CBS, not EMI, so all references to Columbia on
the labels & sleeve are overstickered. Most of these export
issues were made for sale in the United States, but France
also had thesame problem with Columbia there being a
trademark of CBS, which is why the French releases were on
Odeon too. Both sleeves & vinyl are in superb condition)

Pink Floyd The First Three Albums - EXPORT UK 3-LP vinyl record set (Triple LP Album)
|
Tracklisting / Additional Info: |
All three LPs date to 1971, but all are unique in their treatment, as the 'Export' stickering was a manual process performed after the event on regular UK pressings.
The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn
This is the same as the fourth U.K. stereo issue on the black Columbia label with two EMI logos, but with a gold Odeon sticker over the logo in the bottom center of the back cover and gold Odeon stickers over the logos on the labels. Each label reads 'Regd. Trade Mark Of E.M.I. Records Limited' under the Odeon logo.
The sleeve is the conventional front laminated variety. Some export issues used a flipback sleeve, but this is not.
The labels are also the conventional design of the time with two EMI logos & perimeter text starting 'EMI Records LTD'.
Condition:
The sleeve shows just a little light shelfwear, mostly to the unlaminated back, but nothing that you would not expect after forty years.
The vinyl is particularly sweet in that it remains in excellent condition with just a couple of light surface hairlines to prevent a mint grading & very little sign of play.
A Saucerful Of Secrets
This is the same as the fifth U.K. stereo issue on the black Columbia label with two EMI logos, but with a gold Odeon sticker over the logo in the bottom center of the back cover and gold Odeon stickers over the logos on the labels. This is the only album with a clue as to its final destination, as it still remains in the loose fit opened polywrap with a French import sticker on the front.
Another quirk with this one is that the sleeve label correctly reads 'Regd. Trade Mark Of E.M.I. Records Limited' under the Odeon logo, but the labels have been incorrectly stickered with Parlophone Odeon stickers, which read 'Regd. Trade Mark Of the Parlophone Co. Ltd.' instead.
The sleeve is the conventional front laminated variety. Some export issues used a flipback sleeve, but this is not.
The labels are also the conventional design of the time with two EMI logos & perimeter text starting 'EMI Records LTD'.
Condition:
The sleeve shows mininmal shelfwear, thanks in part to the outer poly that has remained with the album since purchase.
The vinyl is also particularly sweet in that it remains in excellent condition with just a couple of light surface hairlines to prevent a mint grading & very little sign of play.
More
This is the same as the UK third issue, with a green tinted rear sleeve photo with the couple facing left & black Columbia labels with two EMI logos, but with a plain stickers over the logo in the bottom center & top of the back cover & the top left of the front, along with huge semicircular plain stickers on the labels.
This issue has no gold stickers of any kind.
The sleeve is the front laminated flipback variety with round ended flipbacks. This is a particular feature of the Export copies of 'More' in that they used the earlier sleeve and label designs left over from previous production runs.
The labels are the conventional, but slightly earlier, design of the time with two EMI logos & perimeter text starting 'The Gramophone Co. Ltd.'.
Condition:
The sleeve shows a degree of shelfwear, mostly to the unlaminated back, with a little laminate creasing evident at the corners, minor edge scuffing and some stressing to the bottom flip. It still, however, remains intact & free from writing, and very presentable.
The vinyl belies the sleeve in that it remains in excellent condition with just a couple of light surface hairlines to prevent a mint grading & very little sign of play.
So, there you have it. Every Pink Floyd LP ever issued for export, all from 1971 & all in superb condition. You will need to wait a very long time before you are able to secure all three of these in one hit. Even we have had to wait over thirty years!
The tracklisting, you already know, so it would be pointless to repeat that here :-)
