The Beatles The Beatles [White Album] - 2nd New Zealand vinyl LP album (LP record)

Background Info
It just goes to show that if you really want a low numbered White Album, you should get a press from a country that didn't actually press a lot of White Albums !
The NZ original presses [before the pressing plant was broken up in the late Seventies] used either UK supplied master plates or, as in the case with this album, US supplied plates. With the UK supplied, they were normally identical to the UK plates, but the US supplied ones were not always identical to the US releases and they were sometimes cut anew. This let to some fun versions of some albums.
This particular copy has the SWBO US matrices scratched out and the NZ YEX numbers scratched in their place, so I'm guessing that these originate from the US Capitol masters.
As to numbering, these albums were pressed in hundreds, not thousands. A low number is the de facto norm on these.
This is the second New Zealand variant of this album. Numbers under 020000 [roughly] had labels that omitted the 'Prod. & Orchestrations by G. Martin' credit & sleeves with a left slanted 'N' on the front. Those later than 020000 had numbers like this one with a right slanted 'N' on the front. The first five hundred sleeves were imported from Australia, but this is one of the later New Zealand manufactured sleeves.
That makes this a '2nd', technically.
Condition
The sleeve is embossed, numbered, fully laminated and top opening with a small grey 'Stereo' on the back. Inside left you will find 'Manufactured and Distributed in New Zealand by His Master's Voice (N.Z.) Ltd' underneath the tracklisting, to the right are the black & white portrait pictures.
The sleeve remains amazingly white with very little shelfwear evident, although the laminate has split at the openings along the top. A small bit of edge scuffing here & there and that's pretty much it.
The period black inners, in the US Style, are still present & unsplit. The poster and photographs are UK printed.
All labels have the George Martin credits that were lacking on the first run. For some reason the side three label has the date to the bottom instead of to the right - I have no idea why !
The vinyl remains in VG+/EX- condition. There is evidence of play and a few scuffs here and there, but these are mainly cosmetic and do not affect play.
A very acceptable used copy is a good summation.
These were pressed in such relatively tiny quantities that they're now becoming very difficult to find, especially above a certain quality. This is actually the first New Zealand copy that we've ever been able to stock and believe you me, we have stocked quite a lot of Beatles albums over the past twenty years.
This is a far from common pressing, so grab it while you can.
