The Beatles Please Please Me - 7th UK vinyl LP album (LP record)
|
Tracklisting / Additional Info: |
The black & yellow label from the sixth pressing still had the 'Sold In The UK' label text. This was removed by EMI in July 1969, before switching to the single EMI box logo black & silver logo in late 1969. As you can imagine, when you take into account existing stocks of the Mono LPs and the lack of demand for them by 1969, very, very few with this label design ever made the shops. It is most likely that these would have been special order, an exact reverse of the situation upon release, as shops were by then being supplied almost exclusively Stereo copies. There are not a lot of months between July and 'late 1969', so as you can imagine, copies like this are few & far between. The highly sought after 'one box' issue managed to be in print for just over a year before the 'two box' design was issued, so even that was available for at least twice as long as this variant.
I suppose you want to know what the condition is like now, don't you ?
The sleeve remains in amazing condition. There is next to no evident shelfwear bar the tiniest amount of scuffing at the corners. You can even still see that the spine is of the 'pinched' variety. The front carries the small block 'mono' & the colours are clean and bright. The rear remains white, with no discolouration evident.
The labels, critical in a release such as this, have one spindle mark. That's right, one. Pretty much 'as new'.
If you strain really hard, with magnifying devices, lenses, bright lights or even the odd casually erupting supernova to illuminate the vinyl, you won't see much. You can just about tell that it's been played, but only just. There are no scuffs, hairlines, marks, blemishes or squashed insects to be seen. We're not going to call it mint, because it is second hand & can't be, but we can say that if you'd picked this up in this condition directly from a shop in 1969 you would not have noticed. As near to 'as new' as makes no difference at all.
A spectacular one owner copy in as near to 'as new' condition as you're ever likely to find. Don't miss out.
