This set includes:
THREE rectangular passes for the 'R30' world tour, two features very similar designs and are for 'Local Crew'. One has a green background and the other has purple both with red, yellow and green triangles and white 'Rush', 'R30', 'Since 1974' and 'Local Crew' text plus black space for a name/ID to be written. The other pass for this tour has a white & green background with a triangle design similar to the other two but is for 'Meet & Greet'.
Also includes ONE square pass for the 'Presto' tour with pink background and black 'Rabbit in A Hat' image and blue metalic 'Rush', 'Presto' and 'Access All Areas' text plus a black white space for name/ID to be written.
The commemorative patches both feature two diffent images for two different venues, one is for The Arena and dated 5/11/81 and has a full colour image of the 'Moving Pictures' album cover being handled by two people with a blue border around the edge. Along the top is '99 WAAL Fm Welcomes' in brown text and 'Collector's Commemorative Patch #4 The Arena 5/11/81' brown text along the bottom. The paper on the back has a discount voucher for a softdrink.
The other patch 'Starman' logo printed in black & red in the middle with 'Rush' text over the top and a white background, across the top is '93QFM The Rock Of Milwaukee Welcomes' and along the bottom 'Milwaukee Arena - March 2, '81 Tour Pass 8' black text along the bottom. The paper on the back is a vouncher to get the 'Moving Pictures' album cheaper for a local record shop.
Information On Passes
The passes would have been custom manufactured on adhesive backed rayon acetate satin cloth with a removable paper backing, the early versions simply had a plain backing but soon started to have the manufatures name/logo and sometimes the address printed.
Bands touring multiple cities and large venues had their passes printed on large sheets, with layouts featuring multiple designs including different colour combinations plus details for different tour staff and areas of access.
Only a few are then cut into the different shapes so that there is no waste. Usually at the end there some printing overruns, set-up sheets, color test prints, printer's proof sheets, and discarded misprints which are usaually destroyed but some do survive and are very rare and are highly collectable.
