This album was released on July 20th 1964 as a direct response to the United Artists album featuring songs from the soundtrack of the Hard Day's Night film. The United Artists album was actually released before the film itself and shocked Capitol by selling a million copies in just four days. The production of this album, originally scheduled for an August release, was hastily moved forwards. An oddity of this release is that it includes the German version of I Want To Hold Your Hand because Capitol had yet to acquire the rights to the English version in the US.
In the end, the album was more of a compilation with five songs taken from the film, three from the UK album, two from a UK EP & the German single track.
Condition:
The sleeve remains in its original opened shrink & consequently shows little in the way of shelfwear. The rear of the sleeve has the number '5' in the bottom left, indicating a West Coast press.
The labels are the close spaced West Coast versions with 'Mfd By Capitol Records Inc' text inside the colourband & the translator for the German lyrics correctly listed as 'Nicolas'.
The vinyl itself remains in fantastic condition with little sign of play.
A wonderful copy of this fifty year old gem !
