This incredible rarity has been on our shopping list for many years, and only now have we finally managed to track one down.
The vinyl is in truly stunning Mint condition, retaining its gloss black sheen with virtually no evidence of handling or play. The bright Apple 'sliced & unsliced' labels are immaculate with no foxing, discoloration or paper loss evident. The label copy states 'Mfd. by Toshiba Musical Industries Ltd. Japan', confirming this as an original period pressing. All other label copy is printed in Japanese ~kana script.
The unique gatefold picture sleeves has a colour image of both John & Yoko on the front - John is wearing a white helmet with a cut-out Apple logo attached to the front! Inside the gatefold is a 2-panel spread of black & white images, ending with a black panel depicting facsimile signatures of John and Yoko, and dated 25/1/71. The back cover image shows John & Yoko together with a copy of their Wedding Album box set on the desk in the foreground. The overall condition of the gatefold sleeve is Excellent - the front grades near Mint, the inside shows very minor evidence of foxing at the left and right edges and the back cover shows similar, very minor levels of discoloration. These are only mentioned for the sake of completeness - you'd be hard-pushed to find another copy in any condition, let alone this near perfect example.
A wonderful find, unlikely to be repeated for many years to come.
