'It was twenty years ago today...' Arguably the most famous opening line to any album in the history of popular music, and on June 1st 1987 it was a statement of fact - the 20th anniversary of the original release of 'Sgt Pepper', a day that saw its issue worldwide on CD for the very first time.
Here we have a copy of the now scarce UK stereo vinyl edition pressed by EMI for the occasion, housed in a glossy gatefold picture sleeve clearly AUTOGRAPHED and dated by artist Peter Blake in his distinctive style. The signature was obtained at an exhibition of Blake's work held in London at the time.
This is just perfect for framing - there can be fewer finer conversation pieces than this most iconic [and widely imitated] piece of album artwork signed by the celebrated artist central to its creation!
