CONDITION
A truly amazing item offered in untouched and untreated condition with a centre fold down the pink card that the sketch is drawn on. This fold is clearly long standing having been probably shoved in Jesse's pocket way back in the day. Overall the condition is excellent and drawn on textured pink card with the drawings in John's own hand with what appears to be fine ink pen.
BACKGROUND
As previously indicated the sketch depicts Lennon, Harry Nillson [who co-wrote Old Dirt Road] and guitarist Jesse Ed Davis who previously owned this item.
The three of them were out on the town whilst recording Walls & Bridges in LA, recorded during the lost weekend when John exiled himself to California without Yoko Ono in order to see if their love was strong enough. He lived with his assistant turned lover May Pang. The venue where this was drawn was Rodney Bingenheimer's infamous venue 'English Disco'
Rodney was always a step ahead of various trends from the English invasion to glitter to punk rock. He has been dubbed "Mayor of Sunset Strip". He also worked at KROQ Radio Station at weekends for decades.
Originally purchased from Jesse Ed Davis in 1987.
