Background
Sixties Italian albums appear to be almost equally scarce and often found in less than Good condition. Beatles albums are no exception to this rule, covers are often torn, records badly scratched and labels barely legible, yet their scarcity and differences make them highly sought-after among collectors.
Between 1963 and early 1965 Beatles albums were issued in mono only on a red "Parlophon" label, these are some of the rarest Beatles items to find in any condition! In mid 1965 Parlophone issued Beatles albums on a silver and black label, again the logo read "Parlophon" without the 'e'. This lasted until 1968 when all albums were reissued in Stereo and the labels changed to "Parlophone" with the 'e'
The labels are matt black finish with bright silver "Parlophon" logo and tracklisting also in silver. There are no marks around the spindlehole on either side, signifying very little play.
The Matrix Numbers are machine stamped, they are as follows
Side One XEX 481-3N
Side Two XEX 482-3N
The date 28 7 64 has also been machine stamped into the dead vinyl. This was the date of the red label issue, this is the second issue and is circa 1965. It is essential to stress how rare any Beatles sixties albums are from Italy in playable condition.
The condition of Italian records generally is less than than those from the UK, US or other European Countries, but collectors are usually prepared to accept inferior quality items due to the scarcity of these unique Italian LPs, however the condition of this album is staggering!
The vinyl is FLAWLESS MINT and looks UNPLAYED! Even under close scrutiny, not a single mark is visible, and the audio quality is amazing.
The fully laminated flipback picture sleeve is unique to Italy in that the title is in Italian and the border around the Beatles' pictures, which is usually dark blue, is bright red! The white areas of the sleeve are gleaming white with no ringwear or discolouration, there is also a brief biography in Italian on the rear of the sleeve. All edges are perfect with no wear and the spine print is clearly legible.
Finding a better copy than this would be impossible!
