The Beatles Rubber Soul Italian vinyl LP album (LP record)
|
Tracklisting / Additional Info: |
Rubber Soul represents the start of the transitional period between the early Beatles and the Sgt. Pepper era. In terms of performance this was the shift from a live band to a studio band, and the influence of producer George Martin is obvious on several of these songs. The growing sophistication of Lennon & McCartney as songwriters is equally apparent, spurned as much by the influences of eastern music and the burgeoning drug culture. Their desire to write more than pop hits is also apparent. Much has always been made of how "Sgt. Pepper" burst on the music scene, but "Rubber Soul" definitely begins laying the groundwork. A must have....
Background Sixties Italian albums appear to be almost equally scarce and often found in less than Good condition. Beatles albums are no exception to this rule, covers are often torn, records badly scratched and labels barely legible, yet their scarcity and differences make them highly sought-after among collectors.
Between 1963 and early 1965 Beatles albums were issued in mono only on a red "Parlophon" label, these are some of the rarest Beatles items to find in any condition! In mid 1965 Parlophone issued Beatles albums on a silver and black label, again the logo read "Parlophon" without the 'e'. This lasted until 1968 when all albums were reissued in Stereo and the labels changed to "Parlophone" with the 'e'
The labels are matt black finish with bright silver "Parlophon" logo and tracklisting also in silver. There are no marks around the spindlehole on either side, signifying very little play.
The Matrix Numbers are machine stamped, they are as follows
Side One XEX 579-T1 Side Two XEX 580-T1
The date 30-12-65 is also machine stamped into the dead vinyl
The condition of Italian records generally is less than than those from the UK, US or other European Countries, but collectors are usually prepared to accept inferior quality items due to the scarcity of these unique Italian LPs. The vinyl condition of this item is staggering. Visually, under close scrutiny, there are two barely noticeable hairline marks accross the first two tracks of side two. These are totally inaudible. Apart from this minor cosmetic flaw the vinyl is beautiful and plays perfectly.
Housed in a fully laminated picture sleeve which is unique to Italy. The front of the sleeve has the familar image, however the back of the sleeve features the "sprig and springs" full colour image used on the UK EP "The Beatles Million Sellers" The sleeve quality is astounding! The colours are rich with the orange titles almost leaping off the front of the sleeve. All edges, including the spine are perfect with clearly legible spine print.
A great addition to any collection!
