The Beatles The Beatles - Please Please Me Italian vinyl LP album (LP record)
|
Tracklisting / Additional Info: |
Background Sixties Italian albums appear to be almost equally scarce and often found in less than Good condition. Beatles albums are no exception to this rule, covers are often torn, records badly scratched and labels barely legible, yet their scarcity and differences make them highly sought-after among collectors.
Between 1963 and early 1965 Beatles albums were issued in mono only on a red "Parlophon" label, these are some of the rarest Beatles items to find in any condition! In mid 1965 Parlophone issued Beatles albums on a silver and black label, again the logo read "Parlophon" without the 'e'. This lasted until 1968 when all albums were reissued in Stereo and the labels changed to "Parlophone" with the 'e'
The labels are matt black finish with bright silver "Parlophon" logo and tracklisting also in silver. There are very few light marks around the spindlehole on either side, signifying very little play.
The Matrix Numbers are machine stamped, they are as follows
Side One YEX 421 1 Side Two YEX 422 2
The date 26 11 63 has also been machine stamped into the dead vinyl. This was the date of the red label issue, this issue is circa 1965.
The condition of Italian records generally is less than than those from the UK, US or other European Countries, but collectors are usually prepared to accept inferior quality items due to the scarcity of these unique Italian LPs.
Side one plays beautifully with no visible scratches. Side two has a minor cosmetic flaw in that having been stored in the original poly bag inner for a substantial amount of years, a 'rippling' effect is apparent, however this is hardly noticeable, purely costmetic and does not affect play. Both sides one and two play beautifully. This is the best copy of this Italian debut album that we've ever seen and a mint copy, should one ever surface is sure to top the £1000 mark!
The sleeve is unique to Italy, though as previously stated the artwork is similar to the UK With The Beatles album sleeve. The sleeve is front laminated with Italian text on the back. This sleeve has survived the last 40 years without any major defects. There are no rips, tears, writing or any other noteworthy damage. The laminate shows no sign of lifting, only a couple of small creases near the top edge. All edges and spine are unworn and the unprotected/unlaminated rear of the sleeve is white with no discolouration.
A great foreign sixties pressing in extraordinary condition!
