reissue returns to the landmark 1958 sessions better known
through the original Legrand Jazz release. Reframed here as
<I>Michel Legrand Meets Miles Davis</I>, the album pairs
Legrand's distinctive arrangements with an exceptional
line-up drawn from the New York jazz scene, including
<B>Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Bill Evans, Paul Chambers, Ben
Webster, Phil Woods, Herbie Mann, Hank Jones, Art
Farmer</B> and <B>Donald Byrd</B>. Legrand described the
project as "the record of his dreams," and the sessions
remain notable for the scale of the personnel involved and for
the way his orchestrated approach reshaped a programme of
jazz standards. This edition also adds a note by Michel
Legrand on the historic sessions, material not included on the
original release, and is presented with new artwork based on
