4 expands the celebrated Anthology series with a newly
curated selection of rare and revealing material spanning 1963-69,
alongside key recordings from the band's final chapter. Compiled by
Giles Martin, this 2CD set brings together 13 previously
unreleased session outtakes, Now And Then (released
in 2023), and new 2025 mixes by JeffLynne of the GRAMMY-winning
singles "Free As A Bird" and *"Real Love." Across demos, rehearsals,
alternate takes and instrumental stems, the collection offers a clear
window into The Beatles' working methods at various creative
peaks-from early studio refinement through to the Sgt. Pepper,
Magical Mystery Tour, White Album and Let It Be eras. A
further 17 recordings make their CD debut, adding depth
and historical value to this edition. The double album is housed in a
gatefold digisleeve with a 48-page booklet, featuring
detailed track-by-track notes by Kevin Howlett and an introduction
drawn from Derek Taylor's 1996 interview, a separate 58-booklet with
Japanese text and English lyrics. As with the earlier volumes, the set
balances scholarship with musical immediacy, assembling a coherent
portrait of the band's evolution through its most inventive period. With
the all-important exclusive obi-strip, brand-new in the
resealable bag with 'New Music Friday' sticker attached! Also, includes a bonus 12" square artwork poster print!).
