WAYNE SHORTER The Soothsayer (Blue Note Classic Vinyl Series 2025 UK/EU 6-track LP mastered in stereo by Kevin Gray at Cohearant Audio directly from the original analogue master tapes and pressed on 180-gram black vinyl at Optimal. Recorded in March 1965 but not released until 1979, The Soothsayer captures Wayne Shorter at the height of his creative surge for Blue Note, just months after Speak No Evil. Joined by an exceptional sextet - Freddie Hubbard (trumpet), James Spaulding (alto saxophone), McCoy Tyner (piano), Ron Carter (bass), and Tony Williams (drums) - Shorter delivers five original compositions plus a haunting arrangement of Jean Sibelius' "Valse Triste." Highlights include the hypnotic "Lost," the driving "Angola," and the elegant ballad "Lady Day," a tribute to Billie Holiday. Picture sleeve with series hype sticker, factory sealed).
