DEEP PURPLE In Rock (What we have here is a bit different to
our usual offerings but has come from an ex-EMI executive,
so its authenticity is beyond doubt. The sheer weight of the
thing tells you that anyway. This is a 10" GOLD disc that was presented to
Deep Purple for the sale of 250,000 copies of 'In Rock' in
November 1972 and is engraved to that effect. The front of
the disc is GOLD plated
over a copper base and actually plays a test tone [yes, we
did]. This is just the disc, so you can mount it on the slab of
granite of your choice. The more imaginative of you could
mount it on a replica sculpture of the actual Mt Rushmore
parody on the album sleeve to create your own Deep Purple
display. Being gold, there is no serious tarnishing to the front,
although it could do with a polish. What happened to its
original mounting is lost to history, but nonetheless this is a
real life, genuine, in house GOLD disc presented to the band
itself and recovered from the storage spaces at EMI - A one
off!).
