APPLE SCRUFFS The Apple Scruff Monthly Book (Fantastic & extremely nostalgic 1971 UK only 9-sheet fanzine produced by the 'Apple Scruffs', who were a bunch of people who seemed to live almost permanently on the steps outside the Apple Building. They became so much a part of the scene at Apple that they eventually designed Apple Christmas cards for them. This astonishing curio is photocopied single sided sheets, stapled together to form a booklet, much in the style of the 'Fanzine' that was to surface but five years later. For the princely sum of 10p [which would happily buy you a cup of tea then, even in London], you could treat yourself to cartoons, jokes, words of wisdom & fashion advice from the celebrated Scruffs. At the same time, happy in the knowledge that you'd helped them along in their world record breaking Step sitting marathon. As a special bonus, this issue comes with a fold out cartoon that makes a rather pointed comment about the then current fashion of everybody sueing each other, with Mr McCartney coming in for particular attention! I have absolutely no idea if this was the one and only issue, but 1971 was nearing the end for the Scruffs and indeed Apple too. A wonderful item).
