THE DESIGN
The overall dimensions of the piece are 21" x 15½", consisting of three layers, with the design itself being approximately 9" square.
The top/cover page is plain tan paper with 'Prepared by The Baird Harris Mechanical Service' custom sticker at the bottom.
The second page is a die cut plain white paper sheet, cut to show the Apple design underneath with colour annotations in pencil at the bottom. The tape securing this piece to the backing card has deteriated over time & is now no longer sticky, with the consequence that this sheet is now loose.
The bottom page is thick white card and simply shows the layout for the logo.
The logo itself is the original 'cut' full colour Apple photograph on a black background with the Apple measuring approximately 5" x 5".
Taped to this are four printers' cross marks.
The whole is overlaid with a 9" x 10" clear acetate sheet with 'Apple Records' text mounted underneath so as to overlay the centre of the apple.. This in turn is taped to the base card backing.
The eventual design, as we all know, did NOT have the text across the centre of the Apple design, so this is certainly a work-in-progress although very close to the final design.
This is a superb piece of Apple history & comes with excellent provenance in that it was obtained from an ex-employee of Apple when the offices closed in the mid Seventies - a one of a kind!
