LESTER YOUNG, ROY ELDRIDGE & HARRY EDISON Laughin' To Keep From Cryin' (Verve Acoustic Sounds Series 2026 limited edition 5-track LP mastered from the original analogue tape by Matthew Lutthans at The Mastering Lab, pressed on 180-gramvinyl at Quality Record Pressings. Recorded in 1958, just over a year before Lester Young's death, this session captures one of his final studio dates, produced by Norman Granz and pairing Young with trumpeters Roy Eldridge and Harry "Sweets"Edison, whose contrasting styles, Eldridge's drive against Edison's relaxed restraint, frame Young's softened but still fluid tone. "Salute to Benny" is a tribute to Benny Goodman, who gave Young his first clarinet, and the track features one of Young's rare late-career clarinet solos, alongside a similarly rare clarinet turn on "They Can't Take That Away from Me." Housed in a tip-on gatefold jacket picture sleeve, hype sticker & factory sealed).
