	LESTER YOUNG Lester's Here (Very rare 1956 US 12-track mono LP on the yellow deep groove Norgran 'Trumpeter' label, also featuring John Lewis, Gene Ramey, Connie Kay, Jo Jones, Jessie Drakes & Gildo Mahones, front pasted picture sleeve MGN-1071) Please see 'more info' ... Tracklisting: A classic Norgran title featuring one of the godfathers of modern Tenor playing, Lester 'President' Young, who described his style as 'swing Tenor'. These particular tracks were laid down at two New York City session in 1953. The album featuring beautiful small group playing By Lester, whose soulful phrasing is nicely complimented by the mellow backing provided here by the two units. Condition: The laminated front slick is still beatiful. In fact, every corner on this copy is square, there are no splits to the seams and you can still actually read the spine which is almost unheard of. There is a small area of paper loss to the top left of the back of the sleeve, presumably as a result of someone trying to remove a historic price sticker. Apart from that, this sleeve stands as one of the better copies out there, with just a little light discolouration evident on teh back from sixty years of shelfwear. The vinyl also remains in fantastic condition, still bright and shiny and free from any of the usual carvings that normally appear on albums of this vintage. There are just a few very light surface scuffs if you look very closely and this record has obviously been well cared for in its historical travels. A wonderful copy of this very rare album.
