Bleu finally receives a deep archival treatment with this
Special Edition 6-CD set, bringing together the original album,
an expanded edition of Introducing… The Style
Council, related singles, B-sides, remixes, demos,
outtakes, alternate versions, BBC sessions and live
recordings. First released in 1984,Café Bleu found
Paul Weller and Mick Talbot moving confidently through jazz,
soul and pop, with "My Ever Changing Moods" and "You're The
Best Thing" among its best-known tracks. The original album
also includes "Headstart For Happiness" and "The Paris
Match", the latter featuring Tracey Thorn on vocals. This
expanded edition adds substantial vault material from the
period, including an early pre-Style Council demo of "Long Hot
Summer", "Boy Hairdresser", written for Respond artist Tracie
Young, the early variant "Summertime Song", alternate
versions, instrumental pieces from Mick Talbot, and an
extended 6:31 version of "The Paris Match". Discs Five and
Six focus on BBC sessions and live performances, including
material recorded for Radio 1, Saturday Live, London's
Dominion Theatre and Goldiggers in Chippenham. New sleeve
notes by broadcaster Gary Crowley complete the set.
