	MADVILLAIN Madvillainy Demos (2025 US 12-track LP by MF Doom & Madlib, featuring early demos of the iconic hip-hop album, now available for the first time on vinyl. The picture sleeve is still in the hype stickered open shrinkwrap & the vinylis Mint & unplayed STH2196) Tracklisting: In 2002, the first demo sequence of Madvillainy leaked online. The tracks contained early vocal cuts from MF DOOM, recorded and quickly mixed in Los Angeles at Madlib's Bomb Shelter studio. The demos may have been unfinished, but fans understood that this was a hip-hop album unlike any other. DOOM rerecorded vocals � alluding to the leak on �Rhinestone Cowboy� � and Madlib added new beats and changed up the sequence. Leaks could kill an album�s momentum in the early 2000s, but the demos only whetted fans' appetites; when Madvillainy came out in 2004 it was "one of the most anticipated releases in underground rap history," according to Pitchfork. 	MADVILLAIN (MF DOOM & MADLIB) Madvillainy (2022 UK/EU limited edition 22-track black vinyl double album 2-LP. Originally released in 2004 Madvillainy earned critical acclaim and cult popularity, widely regarded as one of the greatest rap albums of all time and a benchmark record for alternative hip hop. Their intricate rhymes and lyrics, short song structures and use of obscure, stylistically diverse samples made for a sound that was generally unfriendly to commercial radio Tracklisting: but was lauded for its influence on underground rap. Picture sleeve with original cover art, factory sealed)��Madlib wanted to record with Doom. The label found the guy, brought him out to the house in the east Los Angeles hills where they were based at the time. Most of the tracks were written and recorded there, Madlib making beats in a former bomb shelter downstairs, Doom writing on the back porch and recording in a bedroom. "Meat Grinder" and "Figaro" were made in the first couple days - songs lit, in the booth, with the best host / doing bong hits on the roof out in the west coast. Madlib and Egon were in Brazil after the first round of tracks were put together, which Madlib bought to listen to on a CD-R. He made a few more beats out there which would end up on the album, using a portable record player, an SP 303 and a borrowed cassette deck. Meanwhile, some sad-sack jackass burned a copy of the demo and decided to post it on the internet - wasn't even tweaked and it leaked into cyberspace / couldn't wait for the snipes to place / at least a track list in bold print type face. Declaring the album "already out," the artists more or less gave up on the record and it took months to bring them back to the project. Verse 2 of "Rhinestone Cowboy" was written and recorded over 6 months after the first verse. Sometimes he rhyme quick, sometimes he rhyme slow, or vice versa / Whip up a slice of nice verse pie, hit it on the first try. Doom tweaked and perfected his lyrics and delivery several times through late 2003. Madvillainy with no hooks and dirty beats was released March 23, 2004. Exec produced by PB Wolf.
