Another gem in
the Original Jazz Classics series to mark the Miles Davis
centennial, this audiophile pressing is a cornerstone of the
Prestige catalogue cut and mastered all-analog from the
original tapes by Kevin Gray at Cohearent
Audio and pressed at RTI.

First released on Prestige in 1958 the album is one
of four recorded at the Van Gelder studio in 1956. The
sessions captured Davis with his first great quintet:
John Coltrane on tenor saxophone,
Red Garland on piano, Paul
Chambers on bass and Philly Joe
Jones on drums. The programme mixes standards
with the Sonny Rollins tune 'Oleo', and opens with 'If I Were A
Bell'.

Housed in a tip-on jacket with OJC series obi,
factory sealed. Essential.
)
