Deluxe 5-CD Edition - The most complete account of
Wheels of Fire ever assembled, this Super Deluxe
Edition 5-CD set chronicles the full creation and realisation of
Cream's third album across five compact discs - from the
original 1968 release through to previously unheard studio
tapes, an expanded live document and an extensive rarities
collection. Disc One presents both the original CSG-encoded
stereo album and anewly remastered phase corrected,
de-CSG'd version side by side, allowing direct comparison
between the 1968 release and the restored recordings. Disc
Two draws on Felix Pappalardi's personal reference reels to
present previously unreleased stereo and mono versions of
the studio album, including alternate mixes and extended
takes. Discs Three and Four document Cream's legendary
March 1968 performances at the Fillmore Auditorium and
Winterland Ballroom - the four tracks originally released on
the live half of Wheels of Fire sit alongside eight additional
performances, including a previously unreleased recording of
'We're Going Wrong' from Winterland on 10 March 1968. Disc
Five compiles fifteen rarities, nine previously unreleased,
encompassing alternate mixes, single versions and two rare
live recordings. The set is completed with a hardcover book
featuring sleeve notes by Jim Faber and photographs from
the era, housed in a gatefold sleeve within a rigid slipcase
